Positudes selects BTS as security vendor for the desktop

BTS has been chosen by Positudes to provide fingerprint technology to secure the access of information at the desktop. These users will no longer have passwords to remember or forget, they now simply walk up to the pc, place there finger to the pod, and the pc launches the user session. All at the touch of a finger.

Foothill Ranch, CA (PRWEB) March 1, 2004--BeeSure Technology Solutions, Inc. (BTS), a marketer and integrator of two-factor authentication and identification technologies, today announced that Positudes, a not-for-profit organization in the bleeding disorder community, chose BTS as their HIPAA security solutions provider using biometrics to secure their desktops.

The BTS solution, using biometric fingerprint recognition, utilizes several unique physical identifiers from the patterns of one finger to "irrefutably" identify and authenticate end-user access to automated information. This solution also reduces the cost of password administration, now being mandated by HIPAA.

"As a small business, desktop security is a growing concern. Penalties and other assessments from HIPAA starting at $25,000 and up to one year of imprisonment can cripple a business like ours," said Leslie Castellucci, Director of Insurance Claims and Administration for Positudes.

Positudes, is facing the same HIPAA legislative deadlines as all other healthcare organizations", commented Jeffrey S. Jackson, President and CEO of BTS. They chose us (BTS) to secure their desktops using biometrics (selected finger print recognition) to simplify access to data and to comply with looming HIPAA deadlines. While a small organization, Positudes faces the same issues as large organizations", added Jackson.

Positudes is still considering adding biometrics for their field staff in the future. The staff has been using "generic passwords"; meaning that, every one knows each other username and passwords. This is definitely NOT considered secure by HIPAA standards. Positudes decided on finger print recognition devices to secure desktops and prevent vulnerability in their small domain. They are also considering incorporating other technologies as their business grows.
