Calaveras Celtic Faire Salutes Celtic Pride and Passion

St. Patricks weekend is almost here and back by popular demand Calaveras will hold its 18th annual, 2nd largest in California, Calaveras Celtic Faire at Angels Camp Fairgrounds on March 13th and 14th. This years entertainment includes Wolfstone from Scotland – the bands only appearance in USA, modern clans and a huge renaissance / walk through time with over 30 guilds a series of live sword tournaments and an impressive joust. (PRWEB) March 6, 2004--The Calaveras Celtic Faire will celebrate 18 years of Celtic festivities on March 13 and 14, 2004 at the Angels Camp Fairgrounds. This international, highly anticipated event will offer a spectacular showing of the very finest in Irish and Scottish entertainment. Headlining this year's festival are World renowned Wolfstone from Scotland and other favorites including Tempest, Golden Bough, Mollys Revenge and the Black Irish Band. These performers will be joined by nearly two dozen additional local and regional Celtic bands who will entertain the patrons with the high-energy music of the bagpipes and the melodies of minstrels. Music always plays a major role in our Festival's tradition and this year's outstanding line up of nationally and internationally known musicians showcase the rich tapestry of talent our community represents," said Patrick Karnahan, the Festival's producer and president.

The festival, however, will be filled with a plethora of other entertainments. In addition to a marketplace with over 200 vendors of Celtic art, clothing, jewelry, ornaments, pottery, musical instruments and traditional Irish and Scottish food, the event will also include step dancing exhibitions, children's activities, pipe bands, cultural displays and workshops, and modern clans offering ancestry research to patrons.

Additionally, the Living History Village will feature historical re-enactors from various time periods exhibiting Gatling gun exhibitions, battle pageants, amazing feats of falconers, jousting knights and noble steeds clashing on the tourney field, the Royal Court of Mary Stewart, Queen of Scots, minstrels, jugglers, bards, stilt walkers, fire eaters, bawdy wenches and much more. A tournament of combat featuring numerous sword styles will be held throughout the weekend.

The 18th annual Calaveras Celtic Festival will also be hosting a whiskey tasting competition. Attendees will taste 10 types of unmarked whiskey and be asked once and for all which is the best. Entrees include Irish whiskey, single malt scotches from Scotland, bourbon from the United States and other international entrees.

More than 20,000 people are expected to attend this year's festival.

School Field Trip

The weekend long festival will open Friday morning March 12 at 9:30am to junior high school students of (list counties here). Students will experience first hand the enchanting world of Celtic history, adventure and magic. Students will be invited meet the knights in armor, listen to a Celtic concert and bagpipe music and much more.
