MedScan TextMiner automatically processes MEDLINE abstracts, articles, and other scientific texts, extracting biological facts along with references to the original source of information. The software seamlessly integrates into corporate information systems as a component of their bioinformatics toolset.
Among other information, MedScan TextMiner extracts functional associations between proteins, cell processes and small molecules, recognizes types of regulatory mechanisms involved, and the effects of regulation. Captured data is presented as a datasheet or an XML file. MedScan runs under Windows and Linux, and works with plain text files, HTML, PDF and MS Office documents, as well as catalogs and archives.

MedScan TextMiner can process the entire 2004 release of MEDLINE in about 60 hours, and extract more then 300,000 unique functional links. This web-based application demonstrates its text mining capability with PubMed, text or file samples.
