Union County High School to Host Top Bluegrass Performers at Spring Bluegrass Concert

Union County High School in Maynardville, Tennessee will be host a Spring Bluegrass Concert" on April 17, 2004 at 7:00 pm with Pine Mountain Railroad, Michelle Nixon & Drive and local east Tennessee band Dedric Hill. This concert includes two top charting bands on Bluegrass Unlimited Magazines National Bluegrass Chart. Pine Mountain Railroads current CMH Records single The Old Radio" is currently at #3 and the album at #6. Nixons current Pinecastle Records single, Harlan" is #7 and the album Its My Turn" is #10 song in the country.

Maynardville, TN (PRWEB) April 3, 2004--Pine Mountain Railroad includes three members from the Hall Crossroads area. This band has risen quickly from a local to a national touring band with significant record charting on Billboards Bluegrass Survey Charts, Bluegrass Unlimited Magazines National Album Chart and the Roots Music charts. The band garnered in the final top five nominations for the International Bluegrass Music Association 2003 Emerging Artists of the Year. They were just named the 2004 Emerging Artist of the Year by the California Bluegrass Association. Pine Mountain Railroads sponsors include: Odoms Tennessee Pride Sausage, Gibson Instruments, Yamaha Instruments, Shure Microphones, and other well-known companies throughout the United States.

Michelle Nixon & Drive. Nixon launched on to the professional bluegrass tour in 2003 with her latest project, Its My Turn". This project, along with Nixons 2003 tour, earned her enough esteem with fans to warrant one personal and two band related nominations at the 2004 SPBGMA Convention including Female Vocalist of the Year" and Song of the Year" in the same category as Ricky Skaggs and Rhonda Vincent. Nixons project includes cuts written by legends Tom T. and Dixie Hall, Steve Wariner and Bill Anderson as well as Nixon herself. The next single off this project, Joan Henry", is scheduled for release in May 2004.

The show will open with east Tennessee band Dedric Hill. This band from the Knoxville area has been around the bluegrass scene for many years. Their first cd was released in September and includes numerous original songs by band members Marvin Gideon and Kevin Jago.

The concert is being produced by Jeff Longmire and Atlanta based Hope River Entertainment, Inc. Longmire is also promoter of the annual Clinch Mountain Bluegrass Festival, Luttrell held in June. Freddy Smith with WDVX Radio will serve as MC.
