Resolving Eating Disorders and Weight Problems

Obesity and other eating disorders are widespread in our culture. Hypnotherapy is effective in resolving these problems. A one-hour discussion of the causes and treatments will be presented via a webcast talk show On the Path to Health, Your Mind is Key". This show wil air on Thursday, April 8, 2004, 8:00 PM Eastern, 5:00 PM Pacific, on VoiceAmerica.com

(PRWEB) April 5, 2004-–Eating disorders and obesity make up the largest health problem in America today. In most cases, there is no physical cause for the problem. The source of the eating behavior comes from within the mind. Hypnosis has been shown repeatedly to be one of the most effective ways to alter that behavior. On Thursday, April 8, 2004, 8:00 PM Eastern, 5:00 PM Pacific, Vicky Thomas and Horace Simmons will discuss the causes and treatment of eating disorders and obesity on the webcast talk show On the Path to Health, Your Mind is Key". These behaviors occur to fulfill a need or a purpose, and resolving that need speeds the process of returning to a normal style of eating.

In the case of excess weight, the cause may be as simple as stress. A number of biochemical changes occur in the body in response to stress, which have the affect of creating hunger, especially for sweets, even when the body is well nourished. Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Time Line Therapy, and hypnotherapy have specific techniques for altering the stress response permanently in only a few hours time.

Other causes may be a childhood decision to be just like Mom" or some other respected person, or a perception they would be safe when they got big". The meaning of big" changes from age 5 to age 25, but when that decision is not re-examined from an adult perspective, the unconscious intention to be big" can remain. Those childhood decisions can be changed with these techniques also.

Eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia also come from perceptions in the mind of the appropriate body appearance. The malnutrition that results from these behaviors goes beyond just being skinny. The malnutrition creates vitamin and mineral deficiencies diseases such as beriberi and pellagra, and predispose a person to infection at a time when the immune system is weakened. The result is that such people have a significantly reduced life expectancy. Hypnotherapy can be effective in changing behavior in these eating disorders as well.
