Natural History Biodiversity poster of California Oak Woodland Community Premiers

Good Nature Publishing Co. announced the premier of their 25th natural history poster today, titled "California Oak Woodland Community". This oil painting of over 25 native species in the threatened California oak woodlands shows flora and fauna at risk from development, agriculture, and disease like Sudden Oak Death. California Oak Foundation ordered 10,000 of the posters for education and outreach efforts to protect the species in remaining oak woodlands.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) April 12, 2004 -- Hundreds of thousands of acres of Oak woodlands in California are under assault from urban development, tree disease, and agriculture.

Good Nature Publishing Co. announced the premier of its newest interpretive natural history poster, titled "California Oak Woodland Community".

Working with partner California Oak Foundation to educate California citizens about the importance of protecting oak woodlands, the new oil painting by award winning artist Suzanne Duranceau features over 25 native flora and fauna native to the California oak woodlands.

"This beautiful and educational art will help us work to protect the California Oak Woodland ecosystems. At a glance, people can see a few of the thousands of species that depend on oak woodlands and call them home," said Janet Cobb, Executive Director of California Oak Foundation, who commissioned the new natural history poster.


Species shown are threatened with destruction from development, agriculture, and tree disease Sudden Oak Death.

Birds: California Quails • Nuttalls woodpecker • Acorn Woodpecker • Western Blue bird • Yellow-billed Magpie • Anna's Hummingbird • Lazuli Bunting • Cooper's Hawk

Insects:• Butterfly, California Dogface
