Child Welfare League of America, MissionFish and eBay form partnership to sponsor online charity auctions to support services for abused and neglected children. This project will be launched April 16, 2004 as a part of Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Washington, DC (PRWEB) April 17, 2004-–The Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) and MissionFish are partnering to host the first of a series of online charity auctions during National Child Abuse Prevention Month this April. The goal is to garner financial support for this important initiative and raise awareness about the need to eliminate violence against children. Together, CWLA and MissionFish plan to raise critical funding for programs and services to support and serve the nearly 3 million children who are currently being abused and neglected each year in this country.
The auction will kick off on April 16th and close at 10:00 p.m. EST on April 23, signifying the culmination of CWLAs Childrens Memorial Flag Campaign, a public awareness campaign to direct attention to the tragedy of violent child deaths. . For the past three years, all 50 governors have united by flying the flag, issuing proclamations, or participating in ceremonies to memorialize children. The Children's Memorial Flag has also received support from mayors, directors of social service agencies, hospitals, schools, district attorneys, police chiefs, and others.
We are thrilled about this opportunity to partner with Mission Fish and eBay. The online charity auction creates yet one more avenue for individuals, families, and communities to get involved and help this underserved population of children and youth. We look forward to working with MissionFish and eBay to sponsor additional auctions during Foster Care Month in May, Adoption Month in November, and a host of other auctions throughout the year," said Shay Bilchik, President and CEO of CWLA.
The auction process is simple and user-friendly. MissionFish and eBay have teamed up to create eBay Giving Works, a dynamic fundraising platform for non-profits like CWLA that offers buyers and sellers the opportunity to support their favorite causes through trading on eBay.
MissionFish is the provider of the online listing tool for eBay Giving Works. When you purchase on item under our listing between April 16-April 23, 100% of the proceeds will help CWLA fulfill its mission to make children a national priority.
In addition to popular CWLA Giftables, such as the Children's Apron and Bottle Holder, several innovative packages will be auctioned off to help individuals and families nationwide join us in our quest to stamp out child abuse and family violence. Other items include: autographed copies of Audrey Penns New York Times best-selling title, The Kissing Hand; Maria Romero's Caleng and the Moonstone Pearl; lunch at the Harvard Club in New York City with Bob Danzig, motivational speaker and former Vice President of Hearst Corporation; and two opening-day tickets for the 2004 Ohio State Buckeye vs. Cincinnati Bearcat game.
