Dow Corning Renames Concrete sealant: High-movement, 100% silicone sealant targets small- to mid-size construction market

Dow Corning Corporation, a global leader in silicon-based technology and innovative products for the construction industry, announced that starting April 15, Dow Corning® Tilt-Up Weatherproofing Sealant will be sold under a new name: Dow Corning® Contractors Concrete Sealant (CCS). We feel this change better positions the product for use across a wider range of construction applications," explained Duane Govitz, marketing manager of Dow Corning Construction Industries, Americas.

MIDLAND, MI (PRWEB) April 18, 2004--Dow Corning Corporation, a global leader in silicon-based technology and innovative products for the construction industry, announced that starting April 15, Dow Corning® Tilt-Up Weatherproofing Sealant will be sold under a new name: Dow Corning® Contractors Concrete Sealant (CCS). We feel this change better positions the product for use across a wider range of construction applications," explained Duane Govitz, marketing manager of Dow Corning Construction Industries, Americas.

While tilt-up precast construction continues to be one of the fastest growing segments of the industry, Dow Corning believed the Tilt-Up" name was limiting the marketing potential for this versatile, high-performance sealant. CCS is a great choice for construction applications requiring a low-modulus, high-movement, 100% silicone sealant with excellent, unprimed adhesion to concrete, brick or masonry. It cant be beat when it comes to price, performance, design aesthetics and application flexibility," said Govitz.

CCS will be priced in the same range as comparable urethane sealants. Silicone sealants are often perceived as being too pricey for small commercial projects," said Govitz. With Contractors Concrete Sealant, industry professionals will no longer have to compromise performance for price," he added.

According to Govitz, the name change and aggressive product pricing is just one part of Dow Cornings strategy to compete directly against urethane sealants in low-rise commercial projects such as schools, churches, warehouses, strip malls, condominiums, small apartment buildings and office complexes.

Contractors Concrete Sealant will carry a 5-Year Weatherseal Limited Warranty. There will be no change in the products formulation or packaging sizes (10.3-ounce cartridges, 20-ounce sausages and two-gallon pails). CCS will be available in 11 standard colors, 18 special-order colors and custom colors. According to Govitz, those wanting more information about CCS can contact their local Dow Corning sales representative or distributor, call Dow Corning directly at (800) 248-2481 or visit www.urethanebusters.com.

Dow Corning (www.dowcorning.com) provides performance-enhancing solutions to serve the diverse needs of more than 25,000 customers worldwide. A global leader in silicon-based technology and innovation that offers more than 7,000 products and services, Dow Corning is equally owned by The Dow Chemical Company and Corning, Incorporated. More than half of Dow Cornings annual sales are outside the United States.

We help you invent the future.
