Musical Math & Science," introduces children to the building blocks of math and science through 18 lively story-songs. The unique CD demonstrates that these little books can provide a multidimensional and powerful learning experience.
Using renowned picture books such as Seven Blind Mice" by Ed Young and Bunny Cakes" by Rosemary Wells as a springboard, songwriters/producers Diana Winn and Colin McCaffrey innovatively integrate original songs with early education concepts of patterns, measurement, and observation, as well as life and physical sciences. All the songs are guided by national educational standards, and feature dynamic kid and grownup performances. Witty tunes abound, like Sandra Wrights jazzy What Can You Learn (From a 300-Year-Old Goose)," Colin McCaffreys polka-esque, Muffins Spelled Backwards," and the comical tale of Little Ducky Duddle and the Bikini-Clad Caterpillar," sung by 9-year-old Anneli Blume. An illustrated lyric booklet is included for sing-alongs, and bonus tracks of select instrumentals encourage parents and children to create and sing their own lyrics.
In addition, the project boasts an eclectic mix of musical styles, highlighted by several acclaimed World Music recording artists: Jamaican Father Goose," Ghanaian Jordan Mensa, and Nicaraguan Jairo Sequeira, who sings two selections in Spanish, El Conejo Nicolas" and the lullaby El Negrito Cuñù Cuñù."

"What Is It? Musical Math & Science," the second Re-Bop Records CD in a series developed with Vermont Center for the Book, follows up the award-winning "Mother Gooses Never-Ending Tea Party." A portion of the proceeds from this project will go to Vermont Center for the Books signature Mother Goose Programs.
