London, England (PRWEB) May 3, 2004 -- The management consultancy sector is witnessing a rebound in client order volumes that is quickly translating into an internal resourcing problem. With the backdrop of a growing war for talent in the consultancy recruitment market, HR managers and recruiters are due to converge in Central London on 27th May for a critical recruiters gathering entitled Optimising recruitment & retention strategies in 2004".

Key speakers at the event include Bill Shipton, Chairman of the Association of Online Recruiters; David Hurst, founder of Online Recruitment Magazine; and Tony Restell, Director of Top-Consultant.com.

Having talked to recruiters in the management consultancy space, the event organisers are tailoring the content to address the fact that management consultancy recruitment prospects have been absolutely transformed in the last six months. An upturn in client orders is creating headaches for HR managers, who must quickly hire top talent to plug internal resourcing gaps. However, HR Departments are now being asked to do more for less. In many organisations the staffing levels within HR are only a fraction of what they were during the boom years. Resources are stretched, yet there remains pressure to keep a lid on the costs per hire of any new recruitment drives.

Compounding this recruitment problem is the rising level of staff turnover, with major consulting firms finding it increasingly hard to retain their existing staff. Partly this is a reflection of widening opportunities at competitor firms, partly a reflection of dissatisfaction at salary & promotion freezes in the last 18 months.

In such a climate, optimising recruitment & retention strategies is absolutely critical" commented Top-Consultant Director Tony Restell. Once the initial slack has been taken up and consultants become fully utilised, order volumes cannot grow faster than HR managers can grow headcount. So recruitment & retention are becoming major organisational challenges for 2004 – and this event will help HR managers to meet these challenges head-on."
