New York City, NY/Miami Beach, FL (PRWEB) May 5, 2004 -- The long awaited film based on the story of Chris Paciello, has finally been announced and is slated for production in January 2005 in Miami and New York. With elements of Scarface, Miami Vice, The Sopranos, and Donnie Brasco, the 90 minute feature, The King of Clubs" tells the true and unbiased story of Paciello, who made world headlines when he was arrested in 1999 in connection with the 1993 murder of a Staten Island, NY housewife. Mario Lopez to play Chris Paciello, along with Tom Sizemore and John C. McGinley who have joined the cast.

Billed by The Village Voice as "the biggest scandal to hit South Beach since the 1997 murder of Gianni Versace," The New York-born Paciello was a well-known fixture of Miamis nightclub and society crowds. In fact, Paciello, who co-owned Liquid, was credited with adding fire to South Beach's rising status as a major international hotspot. Paciello, who mixed it up with superstars like Madonna, Jennifer Lopez and supermodel Niki Taylor, was recently sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Hollywood showed early interest in a story about Paciello. Paramount Pictures was working with producer Scott Rudin and director Kimberly Peirce, but all production was reportedly halted due to lawsuits and allegations of proceeds from the project going to Paciello, his family, and his former partners. The King of Clubs" is now the only project which is ready for production in early 2005.

Executive produced by South Floridian Paolo Sadri, (TMG Films), who has worked as a producer on Spike Lees upcoming film Goal" and feature film "Box Marley" which is completed and ready for distribution. The story spans from Paciellos early life as Christian Ludwigsen on the mean streets of the New York boroughs of Brooklyn and Staten Island to his recreation as Chris Paciello in Miami. Screenplay written by Roy Carlo, The King of Clubs" is based on three years of extensive research, including actual court transcripts. With financing already secured through an Italian company, filming is set to begin early 2005 and will be shot in some of the original locations in New York and Miami.

"There has always been a lot of interest in this story from all over the world," said Sadri, and a number of major players in the industry have been interested to make this film. It has not been easy, we have weathered the storm and Im very pleased that we at TMG Films are able to bring this project to the big screen"
