Information Manufacturing Corporation (IMC) and Criterion 508 Solutions, Inc. have announced the forming of a strategic alliance to offer Section 508 compliant electronic document management solutions and services to the Federal, State, and County government marketplace. In forming this strategic alliance, these two industry leading organizations will work together to develop and market document management and utilization services that comply with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act as amended by Congress in 1998.

Rocket Center, WV (PRWEB) May 13, 2004 -- Information Manufacturing Corporation (IMC) and Criterion 508 Solutions, Inc. have announced the forming of a strategic alliance to offer Section 508 compliant electronic document management solutions and services to the Federal, State, and County government marketplace. In forming this strategic alliance, these two industry leading organizations will work together to develop and market document management and utilization services that comply with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act as amended by Congress in 1998.

"We have long recognized the need for a high-volume document conversion and management solution that addresses Section 508 compliancy issues. This is something our clients have been asking for, and we are incredibly excited to be able to offer what we believe to be a first-to-market Section 508 compliant document conversion solution. This strategic alliance not only offers the government a comprehensive, affordable solution, but will also create many employment opportunities for the historically under-employed—the disabled," said Criterion's President and CEO Anna Bradley.

In 1998, Congress amended the Rehabilitation Act to require Federal agencies to make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities. Inaccessible technology interferes with an individual's ability to obtain and use information quickly and easily. Section 508 was enacted to eliminate barriers in information technology, to make available new opportunities for people with disabilities, and to encourage development of technologies that will help achieve these goals. The law applies to all Federal agencies when they develop, procure, maintain, or use electronic and information technology. Under Section 508 (29 U.S.C. ‘ 794d), agencies must give disabled employees and members of the public access to information that is comparable to the access available to others.

Information Manufacturing Corporation, founded in 1998, is a fast-growing innovator in the field of knowledge management services for clients in the Health, Department of Defense, Civilian Government Contracts, and National Security business sectors. With its headquarters in Rocket Center, WV and corporate facilities in Webster Springs, WV; Clarksburg, WV; and Manassas, VA, IMC has an outstanding track record in the creation and implementation of high-tech data management solutions for both government and private sector enterprises. IMCs cutting-edge knowledge services have garnered the company contracts with several Federal government organizations such as the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP), and several Department of Defense agencies. IMC also serves the private sector with an emphasis on healthcare data management.

IMCs unique approach to knowledge management combines traditional document conversion and storage services with high-end data extraction and analysis. Additionally, IMC has developed a state-of-the-art Archive Resource Management application to support its core competencies in data conversion, storage, and retrieval. With this innovative technology, IMC can take information in practically any format and transform it into secure and easily accessible information, offering high-volume document conversion, mass storage, and web access in a tightly integrated, secure environment.

Criterion 508 Solutions, Inc., founded in 2001, assists Federal agencies and vendors in understanding and documenting Section 508 compliance and compatibility issues and creates IT employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Criterion provides their clients with expert Section 508 compliance solutions by utilizing specially trained focus groups and accessible application development teams staffed by people with visual, auditory, mobility and/or cognitive disabilities. Criterion, an American-owned company committed to employing American workers of all abilities, has created one of the most comprehensive offerings of Section 508 compliance solutions available.

Criterion's solutions include Section 508 organizational planning, compliance testing, repair, validation, and training. This includes an objective and independent third-party audit review of processes, electronic files, websites, and/or software applications for compliance with Section 508 and compatibility with IT accessibility features. Criterion also helps identify accessibility issues, and mentor developers to make the necessary modifications. Criterion provides Section 508 compliance vendor validation to federal contracting officials and offers a variety of customizable training courses specifically designed for federal procurement officials, vendor sales managers, attorneys, IT project managers, and application developers.

Criterion recognizes that addressing Section 508 issues one project at a time is a costly and inefficient approach to dealing with Section 508 requirements. That is why Criterion 508 is the industry leader in offering Section 508 organizational planning to federal agencies. Criterion can help you plan, prioritize, and cost-out your future EIT accessibility initiatives. "Our teaming relationship with IMC is just one more way that Criterion will be able to assist federal agencies with becoming Section 508 compliant at the organizational level rather than project by project," said Criterion's President and CEO Anna Bradley.
