Washington, DC (PRWEB) May 12, 2004 -- GradPAC Chairman Shawn N. Olds, on behalf of hundreds of fellow service academy graduates, extended congratulations to Monty Warner on his victory in Tuesday’s West Virginia Republican gubernatorial primary.
Colonel (Retired) Monty Warner defeated 10 other primary opponents to secure the Republican nomination for governor. Warner will now face Joe Manchin, III in the November general election.

Warner graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1978. For the next 25 years, he served with great honor and distinction as a Field Artillery Officer in the U.S. Army. Before retiring with the rank of colonel in June 2003, Warner served two tours of duty at the Pentagon, two tours in South Korea and two years as the Inspector General of the West Virginia National Guard.
Colonel Warner’s family also has a long history of service in government, politics and elected office. His father Brud served in the West Virginia House of Delegates and also served as a magistrate in Kanawha County. Warner’s brother Kasey is the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia. His brother Buffy is a former West Virginia State Senator, and his brother Kris is the chairman of the West Virginia Republican Party.
Warner is currently the President of the Square at Falling Run, a planned town center in Morgantown, West Virginia, which combines the best in housing, office, shopping, dining and entertainment. The town center will create 2,200 permanent and temporary jobs and generate $239 million in tax revenue in the first 30 years.
Warner and his wife Janie have three children and currently reside in Charleston, West Virginia.
