EZArchive has customized its search engine to enable advanced search and retrieval capabilities on its online personal digital media asset management service

Fairfax Station, VA (PRWEB) May 13, 2004 –- EZArchive Inc., a provider of online personal media management services, today announced that it will add advanced search and retrieval capabilities to allow users to quickly and easily locate photos, video, audio and text documents from amongst their personal media archives. This latest addition of functionality, scheduled to be available June 1, 2004, further differentiates EZArchive as the most advanced online personal digital media asset management Web site available today.

EZArchives search and retrieval capabilities will incorporate both keyword and natural language search to provide the most sophisticated means for users to quickly and easily locate digital media. To develop such functionality, the company enlisted Dr. Sharon Flank, a renowned computational linguistics and natural language processing (NLP) expert, to customize EZArchives search engine. With a background that includes a Ph.D. in linguistics from Harvard University, Dr. Flank holds numerous patents, including the patent for digital asset management company eMotions natural language-based multimedia search engine.

As individuals amass ever larger collections of digital photos, videos, audio and text, the ability to locate specific media is becoming a more difficult task. The EZArchive site search and retrieval functions, however, are extremely intuitive. By utilizing both keyword and natural language search, EZArchive has simplified the process of naming and finding media assets, allowing customers to find items in the same way it allows them to name them. For example, if a user is looking for a photo they took of their child at the beach but cant remember when they took the photo or the name of the beach, they can enter the word beach" and get back results that may include related words such as sand," Summer," and ocean."

With the amount of data that the average EZArchive user has in his or her personal archive, we recognized that media search and retrieval would be critical," said Pam Huling, president of EZArchive. We sought out Dr. Flank because of her reputation for designing exceptional search engines for companies, which is exactly what she has done for EZArchive. No other online photo sharing site or software comes close to the level of sophistication of EZArchives search and retrieval capabilities, and we think our customers will be thrilled."

Added Dr. Flank, Anyone who has struggled to find a specific photo will appreciate the simplicity we have designed into the EZArchive search engine. We have created a personal media search that handles photos, video, audio and text, specially tailored for our customers to share with family and friends. Its caption retrieval is so smart and so intuitive, its almost as if theres a magic genie inside, giving you just what you want. How does EZArchive know that 'Nana' is what we call our grandmother, or that we were looking for a June 1997 soccer game when we ask for sports videos?"

EZArchive is a hosted subscription-based portal for consumers, offering for the first time ever a comprehensive, secure environment in which users can preserve, access and share photographs, videos, audio and documents. By bringing disparate formats into a searchable database, consumers can access all of their personal media content more quickly and easily than ever before. In addition, by being password-protected and online, friends and families in separate locations can collaboratively build shared archives where meaningful content such as digitized family photos, home videos and historical memorabilia can be viewed and securely accessed by everyone in the group – anytime and anywhere.
