OGMs Innovative LED Navigation TriAnchor(TM) Light Gets US Coast Guard Certified

New LED TriColor/Anchor Light Combination is certified to US Coast Guard standard 33 CFR 183.810, making it the only LED Tricolor/Anchor light USCG approved for new boats less than 20m (65ft)

Austin, TX (PRWEB) May 14, 2004 -– Orca Green Marine Technology Corporation (OGM) announces today that the TriAnchor, its latest LED product in their expanding Argo Navis(TM) LX Series of LED Marine Navigation Lights, has received certification to the US Coast Guard standard 33 CFR 183.810. OGMs recently introduced Tricolor/Anchor combo underwent testing by IMANNA Laboratories, Inc (an independent US Coast Guard approved testing laboratory) for both ABYC and NMMA compliance. OGM is the first to achieve compliance to the USCG standard with an LED-based Tricolor and Anchor combination light.

The combined LED masthead light provides sailboats with a compelling solution to the long-standing issue of power consumption and reliability. With the OGM TriAnchors power consumption at only 5.28W (0.44 amps), boats at anchor can ensure anchoring safety all night while limiting power drainage. The TriAnchors wide voltage range of 8VDC up to 36VDC allows it to be used easily for 12V, 24V or even 36V systems and the light will remain at full brightness as the battery drains down to 8V.

OGMs TriAnchor light is a direct outcome of our customers feedback," said Hobie Caldwell, OGMs co-founder and CEO. Masthead lighting has been very high on our customers need list and weve listened to them for the design of the TriAnchor. Using Lumileds Luxeon LED, OGMs TriAnchor needs only one LED per color for 2-mile visibility. With a low profile of 2.8 inches in height and a rugged housing using o-rings for complete waterproof protection, these lights will outlast traditional masthead tricolor or anchor lights."

Composite Solutions, Inc (CSI), a carbon fiber mast manufacturer in Hingham, Massachusetts is among several early customers of OGMs newest LED product.

We manufacture rigs, rudders, and custom products for cruisers and racers using the same careful and meticulous engineering that we use for our Americas Cup projects", said Barry Steinberg of Composite Solutions, Inc. OGMs TriAnchor is a great way for us to continue offering the quality products that our customers have come to expect from CSI.

OGM is currently shipping TriAnchors to boat owners, and its established resellers and is ready to take new orders from boat builders, mast manufacturers and retailers worldwide. The company also plans to obtain CE approval in the near future for sales to European boat builders and retailers. The OGM TriAnchor is available now directly from OGM or their growing list of distributors and retails for $229.USD.
