CarbWire Presses Quiznos for Nutritional Info

Low-carb news website CarbWire is putting pressure on Quiznos to release information on its "low-carb" Toasty Flatbread line of products.

(PRWEB) May 17, 2004 -- CarbWire, a news website dedicated to low-carb diets, is today launching a campaign to get the release of complete nutritional information for Quiznos' Toasty Flat bread line. The company has thus far hidden the true information, making only net carbohydrates available. CarbWire is asking for complete information, including carbohydrates, fiber, and sugar alcohols. To accomplish this goal, the website is asking its readers to write letters to Quiznos.

Why is this important? Not all dieters can subtract sugar alcohols, which are subtracted from the numbers provided by Quiznos. Without knowing what was subtracted, consumers cannot tell what the true carbohydrate content is. For a product that is advertised as, "low-carb", this is a necessity. Furthermore, knowing both fats and calories is an important part of any diet.

CarbWire co-founder Jon Gales notes, "Subway gives away complete information for every product on their menu. This is the way to do business. Blimpie Subs does the same, making Quiznos the only major national sub brand to hide their products' contents." Co-Founder Larry Angell adds, "We [CarbWire have nothing against Quiznos--we even gave the Toasty Flatbread line a positive review--but having all the facts is important to our readers".
