Constance J. Fontaine, J.D., LLM, CLU, ChFC, associate professor at The American College, has been named to the Larry R. Pike Chair in Insurance and Investments. The chair was established in 2002 by The Union Central Life Insurance Company to recognize Pike, its former chairman, president and CEO.
The Pike Chair supports the advancement of learning and professionalism for individuals preparing for a career in insurance, investments and financial services. Union Central is creating a $1.5 million endowment to sponsor the chair through an annual corporate gift and the purchase of life insurance contracts on more than 200 field and home office associates who are CLUs, ChFCs, or LUTCFs.

Pike Chair in Insurance and Investments. The chair was established in 2002 by The Union Central Life Insurance Company to recognize Pike, its former chairman, president and CEO.
The Pike Chair supports the advancement of learning and professionalism for individuals preparing for a career in insurance, investments and financial services. Union Central is creating a $1.5 million endowment to sponsor the chair through an annual corporate gift and the purchase of life insurance contracts on more than 200 field and home office associates who are CLUs, ChFCs, or LUTCFs. Funding for the endowment also will be supported through individual gifts from field and home office associates.
Fontaine has taught at The American College for more than 17 years. Her responsibilities include development of texts and courses in estate planning, which address the use of life insurance and other planning tools that advisors can use to help clients conserve, accumulate and distribute their assets. She is the author of the textbook Fundamentals of Estate Planning and a contributing author to The Financial Services Guide to The State of the Art, Financial Planning 2000, and Financial Planning: The New Century.
She received her BS degree from Beaver College; her JD degree, cum laude, from Widener University School of Law; and her LLM in taxation from Villanova University School of Law. She holds the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations, and is qualified under the Professional Achievement in Continuing Education (PACE) Recertification Program.
Pike is a past trustee of The American College, past member of the Million Dollar Round Table Foundation, and past chairman of the board of directors for the Life Office Management Association.
In 1999, he received the Lincoln Award from Northern Kentucky University. In 2001, he was presented with the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award from the General Agent Round Table of New York, and the University of Delaware Alumni Wall of Fame Award. He also has received the William Booth Award from the Cincinnati Salvation Army. Pike currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Union Central Life Insurance Company.
