Artist Karen Hetzer is traveling the country in her RV to discover America and find inspiration for her work, taking commissions along the way to support the journey.
(PRWEB) May 25, 2004--Mural artist Karen Hetzer is on the road to discover America. Karen Hetzer, a self-taught artist, decided it was time to learn what living in America really means.
Feeling influenced by the current events in the world, but not fully understanding them, Hetzer decided that it was time to find out about America. With an RV as her studio on wheels, she is traveling the country, taking commissions for work as she goes in order to support the journey.
"I'm looking forward to seeing all the wonders of this country, learning its history, meeting good people, and coming away with a better understanding of what it means to live in America."
Hetzer taught herself to paint eight years ago, by replicating the works of celebrated impressionists painters such as, Monet, Degas, and Renoir, onto pieces of furniture.
"I consider them my teachers", says Hetzer.
With no formal art training, Hetzer was amazed and delighted by the demand for her work. The successful sales of her furniture pieces eventually led one interested client to ask, "Can you do something like this on my wall?".
"That was six years ago, and I've been painting murals ever since", says Hetzer. One of her most recent commissions was in a 17 million dollar home built in Manalapan, Florida, just south of Palm Beach.
Hetzer will be touring the country for one year, and is keeping an online journal of her experiences on her website at http://www.karenhetzer.com
"The journal will contain written expressions of my feelings about this journey, as well as photos of the trip, and of my work. I have no particular route mapped out, my journey will take me where I'm able to secure commissions."
She hopes to include in her travels a trip to see the redwood trees in California. "Its just a personal dream, to be awed by their magnificence."
