Angels Food Drive raised over $15,000 for the L.A. Regional Foodbank and continues to honor the TV Series Angel with a new charity fund-raiser and auction.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) June 9, 2004 -- Angel's Food Drive, a charitable campaign organized by viewers of the critically acclaimed TV series ANGEL, has raised over $15,000 on behalf of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. The Angel's Food Drive campaign is a tribute to the show's theme of helping those in need and serves to demonstrate support for the continuation of the Joss Whedon created world of Angel in the form of a big screen movie or a new spin-off series.

In response to Angels Food Drive, Nicole Roberts, Development Specialist for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank says "Thank you for your dedicated efforts to support the work of the Foodbank. We are so impressed with the response you have achieved from Angel fans worldwide. As of today (5/17/04), we have received $15,012.50 from a total of 378 donors. That's quite an achievement! That amount will enable us to provide 105,088 meals for hungry families in our community."

Wanting to go out with a bang, the Food Drive set an ambitious goal of paying for a truckload of food for The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and/or the freight on a truckload. The costs for freight run from $300-$2500 and the cost of a truckload of food runs from $12,000-$36,000.

As part of the fundraising effort toward this goal, the food drive will conduct a charitable eBay auction. So far, donated items include: autographed books by three Angel authors, Harry Dresden audio books (read by James Marsters) autographed by the author, four signed scripts from Tim Minear, Inkworks Season Four Angel Trading Cards, as well as autographed items from James Marsters, Julie Benz, and Stephanie Romanov. More items are in the works.

In addition to the charity auction, the Food Drive is accepting financial contributions via PayPal on their website: www.angelsfooddrive.com.

Whether or not the Food Drive achieves its goal, the total donations collected from the Paypal contributions and charity auction will be presented to the L.A. Regional Foodbank in the form of a check.
