?I have been a team owner and driver in the event for the past three years, and I am excited about providing an incentive to the 50 plus teams that will be competing in this year?s race,? adds Wappman.
Over $1500 worth of AMSOIL products will be awarded to racers and volunteer workers after the checker flag is dropped at midnight, which will conclude 12 hours of racing at the Point.
"It takes a large number of people to organize and run this great event. I wanted to offer them a thank you," said Wappman, referring to the 200 plus volunteers who help to put on the event.
This grueling once-around-the-clock race is the longest perennially held amateur endurance event sanctioned by Sports Car Club of America (SCCA).
?SCCA Club racing drivers are not accustomed to prize money or contingency prizes,? said Wappman. ?I know that the entrants in this year?s event will be very pleased to see that AMSOIL and the other sponsors have stepped up to offer prizes."
