And a chance to see Prentice Powell perform his incredible poetry in such an intimate setting more than covers the cost of your ticket. Powell will grab your heart and soul with his reflective works such as 'Little Man' and 'I Don't Dance.' This years show is going to be phenomenal."

(PRWEB) June 6, 2004 -- Sacramento artists & San Francisco gallery regulars Scott West & John McGinley will be feautured painters this year at the 2004 Sacramento Jazz, Art,& Poetry Brunch being put on by Inflight Productions at Sandra Dee's on 16th and F Streets in Sacramento from 3 PM to 6 PM. Tickets are on sale for $25 each or for $20 each with orders of 5 or more. You can arrange to buy tickets by dialing either 916-806-0465b or 916-470-7703.

This event is being organized by the bailiff (Petri Hawkins) from the popular Judge Judy television show and his event partner Prentice White. The show features live jazz performances, poetry and art by some of Sacramento's more noteworthy musicians, artists and poets.

Los Hermanos Chocolatos, which features Sean Evans on drums and Dorian Hogans on keys, will be providing the music with a host of talented singers and poets sitting in. The bay area's well known poet, Prentice Powell and Sacramento's Petri Adonis Byrd will be performing their poems along with many other accomplished poets and performers from northern California.

"I'm (Scott West) honored to have Petri and Prentice ask me to be a featured artist at this years Sacramento Jazz, Art and Poetry Brunch. I know how talented Petri and the other performers are and it will be amazing to participate in this show with such talented poets as Prentice Powell and all of the others."

Scott West is the California artist known for his compelling seascapes and marine scenes such as his famous painting "Curious" (California Sea Lions), but who has recently been taking galleries in Europe and the world by storm with his stunning new American pop-art shows. West's latest is this summer's "SHOES" show. West will give his first glimpse from this highly anticipated show at the Sacramento Jazz, Art and Poetry event with his painting "Orange."

SHOES feautures giant paintings of those colorful classic John Taylor Converse high-top canvas tennies. "We didn't expect the reaction that we would get from the European galleries with this show. It's really been quite amazing. We're still trying to plan the logistics of having so many requests and multiple shows in Europe at the same time with our current schedule. We just didn't expect so many galleries to want this show all at once." West will be featuring his pieces from his famous "SHOES" Show with the largest and most prestigious gallery in the Ukraine (Lugansk Gallery) and at many top galleries in Russia, Berlin and Paris in the next year. The Lugansk Gallery rivals the other top galleries in Europe. "It is an honor for an American artist to be asked to have his work featured by this well known European gallery. Lugansk is a remarkable gallery that shows many of my favorite European artists."

"I love the work of Pisarev Gennadiy and his surrealistic pieces; Shwidkiy Andreyi and Pyatigorets Georgy's color and line are fantastic; Dimenskaya Tatyana with her incredible pallet and form. These artists grace many of the top European galleries and museums. The Lugansk Gallery shows many of my favorite European artists and they are highly acclaimed and very gifted."

"There are only a hand full of people in the world that approach art and story with as poignant and fresh a perspetive as Korobow Vadim. You could spend all day at galleries in Paris, Berlin, Milan and Rome and not see one artist with his same clarity and edge. Lugansk seems to be able to find very fresh and vibrant artists like Vadim, and brings them together in their gallery."

"SHOES" will open in America at INSANE PRODUCTION'S GALLERY (Sacramento) on August 14th through September 9th with the show debut for Sacramento's Second Saturday event in August and "SHOES" will also have pieces featured by Lugansk Gallery (Ukraine) and West will also show a few pieces from "SHOES" at the trendy urban gallery, The Body Tribe Gallery on 21rst and I Streets (Sacramento) in August.

According to West, "The Body Tribe is truly an artist's gallery for artists, because they show such a diverse and often dark array of work. Many of the pieces are what you might have seen in the Himovitz Gallery at its old location in Sacramento a few years ago - on the edge, challenging and always very cool. I just like their approach to art. According to West, "Damon Rich shows a lot at The Body Tribe and I've always found Damon's work to be compelling, captivating, clever and very well defined within its own entangled ambiguity. Damon's vibe is very cool."

Sacramento's other featured artist for the 2004 Jazz, Art & Poetry event is John McGinley. McGinley is an extremely talented oil painter that uses a pallette knife to depict his popular paintings. McGinley is considered by many to be one of Sacramento's most prolific painters and is very well-known with Sacramento's top collectors as an artist with incredible energy and texture. According to West, "John McGinley is one of those painters that stops you dead in your tracks with his magnificent energy. It's as if the paint is alive!" John McGinley is soundly one of Sacramento's leading abstract artists and his work with West's international show will make this year's Sacramento Jazz, Art & Poetry an event to remember. Tickets for two please!

Scott West Galleries Spokeperson, George Goldstein, announced the release of an open edition print of West's "Orange" (Orange Chuck Taylor Canvas Shoes) for less than $100. "We simply wanted to make things more affordable. Many people can't afford thousands and thousands for an original "West" painting or $299 for West's limited edition prints, but this special open edition print is hand-signed by the artist and still priced to make Scott's art both affordable and accessible."
