Official Press Release of the A.V.W.I.A. (American Veterans of the War in Iraq & Afghanistan) a new organization devoted to uniting soldiers returning from combat in the war on terror.

(PRWEB) June 17, 2004 -- Everyday, as more troops are sent overseas to fight for America, many are returning home. When these troops return home, getting back into the swing of daily life can be quite difficult. One of the most important feelings a returning soldier can have is a feeling of appreciation and also knowing that they are not alone. A new group called The American Veterans of the War in Iraq & Afghanistan (A.V.W.I.A.) has started a new program to do just that - let the troops know they're not alone.

The A.V.W.I.A. has developed a logo, allowing a soldier to proudly display whether they fought in Afghanistan or Iraq, which is available on tee-shirts, decals and license plate frames. Bryan Wood, A.V.W.I.A. founder and Afghanistan veteran, stated, "After returning home a lot of us felt that what we did just wasnt appreciated. I realized that it wasnt that we werent appreciated, most people just didnt know. After developing the logo and wearing it proudly, its really amazing how many people stop to say thank you. That makes it all worth it."

Another goal of the A.V.W.I.A. is to help other troops identify each other. "We were all there, we all fought and we all saw it. Whether you were in Kabul, Afghanistan or Baghdad, Iraq we are all a family of veterans and it is a great feeling to meet a new friend that fought for the same cause as you", stated Mr. Wood. According to A.V.W.I.A. sales, nearly one thousand troops have purchased items bearing the logo and it's popularity is growing daily.
