Dallas-based Yoga Instructor branches into new field---Jewelry Design and Distribution

Dallas resident Dorian Nasby has branched into two occupations not normally ventured into by young African Americans--Yoga and Jewelry Design. The 31-year old Tallahassee, FL native has discovered a way to help her customers internally (through Yoga) and externally (through her beautifully crafted designs).

(PRWEB) June 29, 2004 -- When 31-year old Dorian Nasby resigned from her role as Diversity leader with General Electrics Vendor Financial Services Division after 7 years with the company, she wasnt sure what her next step would be. Id grown disillusioned with my job and yearned to make a more meaningful contribution to the world. Ive always been very passionate about health and wellness and yoga had been my foundation during a very difficult personal time. As such I wanted to share the benefits of the art with a particular focus on minorities and disadvantaged persons."

After her bold career move she immediately enrolled in a residential yoga training program and resided in North Adams, MA for a month before returning to Dallas to begin teaching. She is now an established yoga teacher providing instruction at numerous Dallas area recreation centers, the Downtown YMCA, and will soon begin classes at Dallas Urban Arts.

As if this werent enough to keep the Tallahassee, FL native occupied, she recently launched Funky Classics-an internet based retail outlet dedicated to offering finely crafted jewelry. Primarily made up of exotic beads and classic metals, she creates interesting, fun and sophisticated jewelry featuring semiprecious gemstones, fresh water pearls, and Swarvoski crystals.

Says Dorian of her Funky Classics line, My goal is to provide clean lines with an exotic flair. I like to offer styles that can be worn by a broad spectrum of individuals seeking jewelry that reflects their unique tastes and accentuate their natural beauty". In addition to her own designs, Funky Classics also offers other designer styles including Barse, Baked Beads, and Ashley Miller. Eventually, Id like to expand beyond jewelry and perhaps establish a small boutique. I appreciate beauty, whether it be the silhouette of a student in a classic yoga pose or a beautifully designed bracelet." With her eyes on the prize, theres no limit to what this go-getter can accomplish.
