Michael D. Rathbun joins Melior, Inc. as Vice President of Product Development

Melior, Inc. is pleased to announce Spam Expert Michael D. Rathbun has joined the company as Vice President of Product Development.

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) June 21, 2004 -- Mr. Rathbun has more than 30 years experience in information technology development and deployment, and is a recognized authority in email policy and individual privacy issues. A consultant to government and private industry, Mr. Rathbun has served recently as Director of Policy Enforcement at Allegiance Telecom, and Director of Customer Operations at Mail Abuse Prevention System (MAPS). He is also an expert in real-time embedded control systems, special-purpose communications systems and the design of TCP/IP-based clients and servers.

Mr. Rathbun got his start in the IT industry as a field service technician dealing with the everyday woes of end users, and has never lost sight of the paramount role that the customer's experience plays in the success of a product. As a consequence, his working motto for product development and support is: "Customer satisfaction is not an adequate goal. The acceptable outcome is never less than customer delight."

"Melior is delighted and honored to have such a seasoned executive on board as we prepare to launch into new CyberWarfare Defense capabilities. Michael's expertise in spam defense is unique and unparalleled and comes with exacting timeliness," says Matt Gair, COO and co-founder of Melior, Inc.

"I recognize a unique opportunity with Melior's technology to make a difference on the Internet, providing defense solutions against the significant risk factors threatening this global community. Spam is yet another, logical, form of denial-of-service, which can be defined as the use of someone else's systems and infrastructure without permission, to further the originators cause. Contributing to Melior's continued development to expand the existing product line and the upcoming product to address other forms of DoS attacks, provides me with the opportunity," says Michael Rathbun.

"Since 1996, the company has lived up to our trademark mantra 'Perfectionists At Work.' and Mr. Rathbun's goals and successes in developing products are an excellent match for us. His background in developing defenses against Unsolicited Commerical E-Mail (UCE), also known as 'Spam', compliments our mission to eradicate distributed Denial-of-Service risks from the Internet. Last week's Akamai incident (public infrastructure) and the recently announced Cisco CatOS vulnerability, affecting a large number of their ethernet switches in private and public networks, which had no affect on iSecure customers, are yet another reminders of that risk, which threatens the Internet as an increasingly important communication vehicle for information flow and business conduct. Denial-of-Service in its various forms as network-, bandwidth-, application-, or logical attack represents a challenge for a new layer of security defense mechanisms at both perimeter and internal network deployments. Providing solutions for this new challenge is what the iSecure technology and product line is all about", Thomas J. Ackermann, CEO, Chairman, and Founder of Melior, Inc. is quoted. "With Mr. Rathbun on board, the company is further enabled to expand the product line with a wider range of dDoS products."
