2004 edition of local music festival grabs the national spotlight with Grammy nominated Fountains of Wayne headlining

Lancaster PA (PRWEB) June 23, 2004 –- Marion Court Room in Lancaster, Pennsylvania is once again proud to present Freedom Fest 2004. This year's annual celebration of great food and music gets kicked up a notch with Grammy nominated artists Fountains of Wayne taking the stage for what is sure to be a memorable show. The event takes place on Sunday, July 4th from 3:30 p.m. and runs until midnight.

What started as an idea to attract visitors to downtown Lancaster over the July 4th holiday, has turned into a summertime classic for Marion Court Room owner Michael Geesey and his partners. "We were really pleased with last year's event and there was never a question on whether or not to hold another one this year." says Geesey. "We have a fantastic city, an abundance of musical talent in the area and it's a great day to come out and celebrate it."

Major corporate sponsors such as Miller Lite, Molson, Bulova Technologies and Captain Morgan have signed on for the festival. Central PA radio stations Cool Pop 106.7 and 105.7 the X will be promoting the festival with 105.7 running live remotes from the event all day.

Music will definitely be the focus of this year's festival with live entertainment going non-stop from such local favorites as AJ & Altercana, Ike, The Jellybricks, Slim Fit and Parallax Project. Harrisburg's own Stephen Reso Band will be performing again and debuting new material from their upcoming CD release. Two stages will be set up to ensure that music fans don't miss a beat. The entire event wraps up with a performance by the Grammy nominated band, Fountains of Wayne.

Fountains of Wayne have been an established force on the national power pop scene, but scored a major breakthrough with their song "Stacy's Mom" which dominated pop radio for most of last year. In February, their work earned them a well-deserved Grammy nod and the respect of music critics and fans worldwide. Deemed "the masters of the three-and-a-half minute pop song", their show is a must-see.

Marion Street in downtown Lancaster will once again be closed all day on the fourth to accommodate the festival. A variety of food and drink vendors will be on hand along with games, raffles and a dunk tank. Tickets are $12 in advance and may be purchased online through TicketWeb, www.ticketweb.com, or at Marion Court Room. Tickets will also be available on the day of the show for $15. For further information, contact Michael Geesey at 717-203-1228.
