The Nominations are issued on the recommendation of a distinguished nominating committee of more than 800 leading American architects, designers, educators, journalists, authors, filmmakers, and other professionals representing all 50 states. The selective process by the National Design Jury will select three finalists for each category to be honored at a Gala in New York.

Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) June 30, 2004 -- In an official letter hand signed by the Miss Buff Kavelman, Director of the National Design Award, Robert Radi was informed he has been nominated for a Product Design Award of the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitts National Design Awards Program.

The Nominations are issued on the recommendation of a distinguished nominating committee of more than 800 leading American architects, designers, educators, journalists, authors, filmmakers, and other professionals representing all 50 states.

The National Design Awards are bestowed for a body of work, not for any one specific project by a much selected jury of highly respected creative professionals. Nominees must be citizens or long-term residents of the United States.

There are seven National Design Awards to be bestowed at a gala award ceremony in New York on October 19, 2004 including Lifetime and Corporate Achievement Awards and Awards in Architecture, Communication, Environment, Fashion and Product Design for which Robert Radi has been Nominated.

As Miss Kavelman explains in her letter, the National Design Awards are the only awards of their kind in the nation as they celebrate design excellence and innovation, and also serve as a critical gauge of the impact of design on the quality of American life. The Awards bring national recognition to design by educating the public and promoting innovation and competitiveness. Their unique contribution to Americas cultural life was recognized by their designations as an official White House Millennium Council program in 2000. Both First Ladies Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush have hosted White House ceremonies celebrating the Award program.

This nomination came as quite a surprise to Robert Radi, that at age 32 he is well on his way in making a name for himself in product styling and design as a third generation designer and part time faculty at Otis College for the past 7 years. As principal of Radi Design, Inc., the studio he started in 1993 and member of ADI the prestigious Industrial Design Association headquartered in Milan, Italy, he served a selected clientele spanning from consumer products to household, consumer electronics, eyewear, automotive aftermarket, sporting goods, office products, personal care and other fine industries.

Robert Radi expresses his upmost and sincere gratitude for having been included as a nominee for this very prestigious award, and regardless of its final outcome, Robert Radi feels that this unexpected recognition gives him an additional reason to stay the course in expressing excellence though his unique approach to product styling and design.
