Rydalmere N.S.W., Australia (PRWEB) June 25, 2004 -- Quantum Technology Pty. Ltd., the manufacturer of the Mountbatten Braille writer and other devices that support Braille literacy, announced today its agreement with Optelec USA as master distributor of Quantum products within the United States. The announcement was made conjointly by the two companies, who have hired Mr. Jim Sullivan as National Quantum Sales Manager.

I have always enjoyed working with people who share a vision about changing expectations and believe in the power of technology to change peoples lives," stated Tim Connell, Managing Director of Quantum Technology. I am really excited about the opportunity to work with an organization that is focused on Braille, has brought together some of the most talented people in the blindness field, and which has the potential to really improve the lives of blind children and adults."

Sullivan was the ideal choice to manage the new alliance between Quantum and Optelec. After receiving his Masters in Education for Rehabilitation Counseling from Kent State University, Sullivan joined the Cleveland Sight Center as an employment specialist. For the past 5 years he has been with Pulse Data HumanWare where he was a top performer in the sales force. Anyone who knows Sullivan (or Sully" as hes affectionately named) will acknowledge that his success is due in large part to his enthusiastic dedication to providing the best possible solution on a very individual basis. The father of three young children, Sullivan is an enthusiastic advocate for literacy among all children and adults.

I am looking forward to building upon the existing relationship that I have with Tim Connell and the team down under," commented Sullivan. Their commitment to new and exciting products dedicated to advancing Braille literacy throughout the world is something of which I am proud to be a part. The Mountbatten Pro is a proven product that is making a profound difference in the instruction of Braille writing in schools and teaching facilities across the country."

The greatest limitation that blind children face is other peoples expectations of them according to Tim Connell. I not only believe in my products, I know that they make a difference to a young blind childs skills and opportunities," said Connell. The alliance with Optelec offers numerous choices for blind students who are seeking a quality education through Braille literacy while simultaneously introducing them to the exciting world of adaptive technology.

Larry Lewis, Optelecs Vice President–Blindness Division, was instrumental in sealing the new alliance. Larry has proven his ability to develop and support exceptional products that have enabled persons to succeed in their work and in their studies.

On a personal level, I owe a great deal to Braille literacy," said Lewis. Quantum offers Optelecs customers a solid foundation whereby literacy is introduced via adaptive technology, thus creating a ‘Win! Win! for the student who is blind, the vision teacher, the sighted peer, and ultimately, employers of literate blind adults."

As for Jim Sullivan, hell be off to a quick start in his new position representing Quantum products at the annual consumer conferences in July of the National Federation of the Blind and the American Council of the Blind. And hell have something fun and new to unveil as well. Stop by the Optelec booth to experience the new Jot-a-Dot portable brailling device. We know youll like it!
