Global Sourcing Insights Reveals Methods to Effectively Communicate Outsourcing Plans

Poor communication on a company's offshore outsourcing plans can create political backlash. GSI publishes a white paper to assist companies in developing effective communication for their outsourcing initiative.

Santa Fe, NM (PRWEB) July 7, 2004 -- Many companies have seen their employee morale and shareholder value erode when news leaked of their outsourcing plans. How can a company prevent such a disaster while evaluating the benefits of outsourcing? "It all starts with effective communication", states Ron Kreutzer, co-founder and director of Global Sourcing Insights LLC (GSI), a company that provides outsourcing advice to companies. Timeliness and addressing employee concerns are two major considerations to developing a communication strategy".

GSI has seen companies attempt to keep the initial stages of an outsourcing initiative secret, many which haven't worked. Given the political sensitivities of moving jobs offshore, companies must plan on how best to control the news. The first communication should be early in the process and contain enough details to address employees' concerns. The goals and objectives of the outsourcing initiative, the timing, and the future roles for current employees are critical elements to include in these communications. In addition to written announcements, small group meetings allow employees to become more comfortable with the plans and to ask questions.

Our latest white paper details the elements of effective communication, and can be used as a starting point in developing a communications plan" comments Scott Noble, GSIs other co-founder and director. This white paper is the latest in a series of outsourcing tips that are available on the Global Sourcing Insights Web site (www.gsinsights.com).
