Bush Has Better Plan for Iraq than Kerry - Bush, Kerry Tied on Plan for Economy - Latest Zogby/O'Leary Report Poll Finds

Americans believe that President Bush has a better plan for dealing with Iraq than John Kerry, giving the President a slight edge in their belief over who has a better plan to create jobs and stabilize the stock market according to a new Zogby/O'Leary Report poll.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 14, 2004 -– Americans believe that President Bush has a better plan for dealing with Iraq than John Kerry, giving the President a slight edge in their belief over who has a better plan to create jobs and stabilize the stock market according to a new Zogby/O'Leary Report poll conducted July 6-7, 2004 of 1,008 likely voters nationwide with a margin of error of +/- 3.1 percentage points.

Voters believe by a 43% to 34% margin that President Bush has a better plan for dealing with Iraq than Kerry. Voters in Red States (those won by President George W. Bush in 2000) also feel Bush had the better plan than Kerry by a 46% to 34% margin while those in Blue States (won by Al Gore in 2000) still gave Bush the edge by a smaller 40% to 35% margin.

Among voter groups tracked by Zogby and the O'Leary Report for the 2004 election, gun owners feel that President Bush has the better plan for dealing with Iraq by a 43% to 34% margin while non-gun owners feel Kerry has the better plan by a 40% to 37% margin. The investor class, those who invest in the stock market or have their retirement earnings in a 401-K retirement plan, believe that Bush has the better plan for Iraq by a 46% to 35% margin while the opinions of non-investors were nearly evenly split with 37% going to Kerry and 36% to Bush. Regular church-goers also feel President had the better plan for Iraq by a wide 51% to 28% margin. Those voters who rarely or never attend church services feel John Kerry had the better plan for Iraq by a 39% to 36% margin.

Voters were split on which presidential candidate's plan for creating jobs and stabilizing the economy was better. Forty-one percent feel that President Bush has a better plan for the economy while 40% feel John Kerry has the better plan. Voters in Red States feel Bush has the better plan by a 45% to 37% margin while those in Blue States feel Kerry has the better economic plan by a 42% to 37% margin.

Investor class voters feel President Bush has the better plan for the economy by 45% to 38% margin. Non-investors by a 44% to 34% margin feel that Kerry has the better plan for the economy. Gun owners think President Bush has the better plan for dealing with the economy by a 50% to 35% margin. Non-gun owners think Kerry has the better plan by a 43% to 34% margin. Regular church-goers feel President had the better plan for the economy by a 48% to 33% margin. Those voters who rarely or never attend church services feel John Kerry has the better plan for the economy by a 46% to 35% margin.
