People in recovery need to start life over with all new friends

A unique twist to the internet dating scene. RecoveringMates.com has cornered the market for singles who belong to the different recovery programs. Recovering Mates is bringing people together who understand the process and unique challenges of recovery.

LYNDHURST, N.J.(PRWEB) July 25, 2004 -- People in recovery face many sensitive issues, which often make it difficult to have and maintain social activities and relationships with people they associated with before recovery – now a national web service helps them to begin new associations with people who understand.

RecoveringMates.com is an on line dating and matchmaking service founded on the principle that on-line dating should be fun for people in all types of recovery. RecoveringMates.com will feel familiar and welcoming, and provide new options for friendship, love, recovering from co-dependence and recovering mates.

"Leaving old influences behind is a significant challenge, and finding new friends is often a key ingredient to success," explained Debra Belfi, co-founder of www.RecoveringMates.com.

"We all need to feel loved and needed, and people in recovery also need to have support from people who understand their challenges. Avoiding past associations is often critical in the recovery process, but it is hard for people in recovery to find and make new friends and associations," she added.

The founders of www.RecoveringMates.com found a need and filled it – an on-line introduction and dating service that is friendly to those in all types of recovery. The site itself is easy to use, and it does not cater to people in any one particular program of recovery – alcohol or chemical dependency, co-dependency, overeating, gambling, or any other problem.

Members can learn far more about those they decide to meet than people typically learn about each other in more traditional settings.

The site itself is easy to use because it is not cluttered with so many things to click on that you become confused, and it does not cater to people in any one particular program of recovery.

"My husband and I met through your site over a year ago, and we just got married last month! Neither of us is perfect, but the strategies and skills we learned through our separate recovery programs have been essential to the success of our relationship," said Rebecca from Dayton, Ohio. Like many in recovery she uses only a first name.

Members of www.RecoveringMates.com are able to set up a profile for others to see, while maintaining the anonymity that is so important to people in recovery. Membership is free.

"RecoveringMates.com respects your privacy and anonymity," explained Belfi. "By signing up you are not committing yourself to any specific program. Only you can break your anonymity. RecoveringMates.com is the vehicle that enables you to meet others, first on line, then perhaps by phone, and eventually you may both agree to meet in person."

No names or identifying information are shown in the profiles. Members decide when and to whom they give their identity.

It is easy to find other members of www.RecoveringMates.com to socialize with on line and perhaps meet in person wherever you may live. Even before you become a member you are able to create your own profile for others to see, and search the profiles of other people at no charge.

Dating online has become a great way for people to meet and connect. RecoveringMates creates the opportunity for you to meet someone instantly.
