SurfStats Software today announced the addition of eCommerce Tracking capabilities to its range of Website Analytics Products to help measure the Return on Investment of Websites. These new capabilities provide a complete picture in monetary terms on which marketing efforts were the most successful in terms of ROI by tying actual sales income and other marketing goals to visitor origin and visitor behaviour.

Pretoria, South Africa (PRWEB) August 12, 2004 -- SurfStats Software today announced the addition of eCommerce Tracking capabilities to its renowned Website Analytics products. This new capability is now included in its SurfStats Log Analyzer and SurfStatsLive eCommerce Reporting Server. Building on recent developments by the company in website traffic and conversion tracking, this establishes the company as a major player in the field of online marketing ROI analysis.

Development Manager Leon Calitz says, "These new capabilities provide a complete picture in monetary terms on which marketing efforts were the most successful in terms of ROI by tying actual sales income and other marketing goals to visitor origin and visitor behaviour."

The SurfStats eCommerce Reporting Server can measure the ROI effectiveness of Cost per Click (CPC) campaigns, user opt-ins, product trials and online orders, which in most modern businesses forms the bulk of online marketing operations. Definable user actions can distinguish between different stages in these operations, for instance to distinguish between the different stages of signing up for a product trial.

CPC campaign analysis can perform ROI analysis by determining and consolidating results from leading CPC vendors like Google and Overture. Results are grouped per CPC vendor and CPC campaign comparing the generated sales income with the campaign cost.

User opt-in analysis measures the ROI effectiveness of operations related to user opt-ins. An opt-in is where a user provides an e-mail address or other form of contact information and consents to receive sales and marketing information from the marketer. User opt-in analysis is especially useful in analysing the effectiveness of direct e-mail campaigns where the SurfStats eCommerce module can track all the actions from the sending of the e-mail, opening of e-mail by the user to the execution of the target action by the user.

Product trial analysis measures the effectiveness of enticing users to sign-up to product trials or request additional pre-sales information. The goal of trial analysis is to determine if the sign-up process deters potential customers and to establish problem areas with regards to the sign-up process.

Online order analysis ties back online product and service sales income to the source that originally referred the customer. The actions performed by customers with online shopping carts can also be analysed to establish the reasons for shopping cart abandonment. Most shopping cart software only reports sales figures after a successfully completed transaction. With the SurfStats eCommerce module the analysis starts at the first referral to the site.

The SurfStats eCommerce module processes certain entries in web server log files to generate the eCommerce reports. Tracking code is added to each web page on the site to log the arrival of a visitor and at each location on the site where user actions to be reported on takes place.

A 30-day fully functional demo version of the software is available for downloading from the corporate web site at http://www.surfstats.com
