Cancer is a devastating disease and its effects reach far beyond the afflicted individual. The members of Mercury Falling, all local-area musicians, felt it important to participate in this fundraiser and use their talents to help others.

Mercury Falling is the closest thing to actually seeing Sting in concert; the bands authentic sound features the best of Sting, from his early days with the Police to his current material. The members of Mercury Falling are all seasoned musicians who have performed with acts such as Stone Temple Pilots, Counting Crows, Live, 311, Garth Brooks and many more. Mercury Fallings drummer, Mike Sorrentino, is currently performing in Billy Joels Movin Out on Broadway.

Formed in December 2003, Mercury Falling features:

Edward Pisano (Vocals) — Ed is an accomplished songwriter, singer and drummer. He was the first drummer to win the outstanding soloist award at the McDonalds jazz festival.

Mike Sorrentino (Drums) — Mike has performed with Richie Blackmores Night in addition to many national acts. Currently, Mike is a drummer for Billy Joels Movin Out.

Mike Desroches (Keyboards) — Mike is an award-winning composer and performer who was one of the founding members of the alternative band Blooka, an Icast.com unsigned band contest winner. Mike also plays with a Skynyrd Tribute band: Saturday Night Special.

Ron Smith (Bass) — Ron also performs with Pride and Steel Breeze as well as other local bands. Hes previously played with Garth Brooks, Vito Belsavo and the Cavaliers, Fantastic: A Tribute to Elton John, Even Steven, Kenny Rodgers and Joshua Tree. Rons first solo CD Step Forward" was released in 2001.

Rob Roscigno (Guitar) — Rob has performed with Dyrect Hitt, Kid Gloves, Glue, Twister, Ring-n-Run, Mr. Jones and Sole as well as such national acts as The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Vince Neil (Motley Crue).Rob has also done numerous studio sessions for WABC television, 7-UP, McDonalds, Marshall Amplification, WRCN radio, and many others, and is currently working on his first solo CD.

James Ingenito (trumpet, flugelhorn and EVI) — James is one of a handful in the country to play this electronic wind instrument and can be heard on the CD: Rhythm Blue Room found in the jazz section of major music stores. He currently is working on a jazz fusion project as well as directing the musical futures of the Brentwood school districts children.

The bands next scheduled performance is Saturday, August 28 2004 at Sgt. Peppers in East Northport, Long Island. Mercury Falling is scheduled to take the stage at 9:30 p.m. and there is an $8 cover for the show.
