Website to Use Novel One More Vote Internet Concept to Defeat Bush in Texas

www.OneMoreVote.org has just been launched by a small group of average, middle-class Americans to use the Internet to ask each voter to "pledge" to vote against President Bush in November and to find one more person to do the same (the One More Vote concept).

(PRWEB) August 19, 2004 -- OneMoreVote.org today launched a novel email campaign with the goal of defeating President Bush in his own home State of Texas. Building upon the energized anti-Bush Internet tidal wave that has brought in over $200 million in contributions to the Democratic Presidential campaign coffers, OneMoreVote.org seeks to extend the Internets reach beyond voters checkbooks to the actual polls on November 2nd.

"We have a highly motivated anti-Bush electorate this year and the Democrats have shown that the power of the Internet can be harnessed to mobilize at the grassroots level," said Khanh Nguyen, founder of OneMoreVote.org. "Instead of asking for any money from our members, we are asking them to make a solemn pledge, an oath to go to the polls and to find at least One More Vote to do the same."

In President Bushs landslide” victory in Texas in the 2000 Elections, out of 14.9 million voters who could have voted, only 3.8 actually voted for Bush. 2.6 million votes went to Gore. This means that 11.1 million votes were not cast for Bush in 2000.

If each person who voted for Gore in Texas in the last election pledges to vote for Kerry in 2004 and pledges to bring One More Vote to do the same, we would defeat Bush with 1.2 million votes to spare,” said Khanh Nguyen. The key is for us to provide a mechanism for each voter to feel accountable to the collective; to trust that his or her vote actually does count because each individual will be held personally accountable to the whole.” The Website will show a current count of the number of votes pledged Texas.
