Stormtroopers Cyborgs and Klingons to Patrol Streets of Downtown Atlanta over Labor Day Weekend

This Labor Day weekend, Dragon*Con, North Americas largest annual Science Fiction and popular arts convention, invades Atlanta for four days of non-stop fun. Now in its 18th year, over twenty thousand fans from across the globe will arrive at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta and Atlanta Marriott Marquis for the largest event of its kind.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) August 19, 2004 -- This Labor Day weekend, Dragon*Con, North Americas annual Science Fiction and popular arts convention, invades Atlanta for four days of non-stop fun! Now in its 18th year, over twenty thousand fans from across the globe will arrive at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta and Atlanta Marriott Marquis for the largest event of its kind. The convention will be hosted by an 850 member all-volunteer staff and has designated The Muscular Dystrophy Association as the official charity of 2004.

In addition to boasting nearly two football fields full of exhibits, art displays, merchandise and collectibles, Dragon*Con features over 300 guest speakers in 850 hours of panel discussions, presentations, workshops, concerts and performances.

Celebrity guests at this years Dragon*Con include Anthony Michael Hall (Sixteen Candles, Weird Science, The Breakfast Club), Peter Davison (Doctor Who), Olivia (World Renowned Pin-Up Artist), Lorenzo Lamas (Falcon Crest, Renegade), George Romero (Night of The Living Dead, Creepshow), Soupy Sales, Erin Gray and Gil Gerard (Buck Rogers), Sybil Danning (Chained Heat, Amazon Women on the Moon) and others.

Dragon*Con's many special events include one of Americas largest costume contests, an independent short film festival, professional wrestling, the Miss Klingon Beauty Contest, robot battles, Radio Theatre presentations, nightly concerts on multiple stages (Chick Corea, Dr. Demento, etc), and an exclusive behind the scenes featurette of Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, all included in one ticket price.

Another big highlight is the third annual Dragon*Con parade featuring hundreds of Stormtroopers, Klingons, cyborgs, winged faeries, hideous monsters and of course lots of celebrities. All will be walking side by side in harmony down Peachtree Street on Saturday, September 4th at 10-am in this not to be missed extravaganza!
