Titusville, FL (PRWEB) August 28, 2004 -- The Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup Championship is big.
That is no secret to the 25 teams that have worked all season long to qualify for the chance to get their names etched on the Cup. But this year its even bigger.
For starters, the overall pay out for the Championship has more than doubled with a top prize of $50,000 for first place and added money for every place in the field.
Not bad for a no-entry fee event. But it gets better. Not only is the additional championship money at stake but the Oh Boy! Oberto Team of the Year Race will be decided at the Championship as well, adding another $15,000 to the team that wins that title.
All total, there is more than $100,000 available for the taking next week when the Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup Championship begins, making it the richest redfish tournament ever.
The teams in the event are the top teams left standing after four quelling qualifying events that started in May in Kemah, Texas and ended two weeks ago in Chalmette, Louisiana. In each of those events, teams garnered points according to their finish and the top 25 qualified for the Championship.
The event gets started Friday, Sept. 3 and ends Sunday, Sept. 5. Teams will fish Friday and Saturday for two redfish measuring between 20- and 27-inches. Their weights for those two days of fishing will be added together and the top five teams will fish on Sunday.
On that day their weights will go back to zero, and the team that posts the heaviest two redfish for the day will win the $50,000 top prize.

MAKING THE CUT:
After day two of the event, the field will be cut to the top 5 teams who will fish out of identically rigged Triton boats, equipped with Mercury outboard engines, Lowrance electronics and Motorguide trolling motors. No other teams will fish the final day.
PRIZE STRUCTURE:
Every team competing at the Championship will take home a check, and each angler will receive a Championship "Goody" bag with a variety of gifts from our team of corporate partners.
