"Sweet Bye-Bye" tells the story of a spoiled diva's journey as she tries to cope with all the challenges life has to offer. When faced with possibly losing her father to illness, 30-year-old Chantell Meyers receives a reality check from above. She promises God that she will become a better person if He allows her father to live. This gripping, amusing, inspirational fiction debuts in bookstores nationwide September 16th.
OAKLAND, CA (PRWEB) September 2004 -- Chantell Meyers' recipe for happiness was simple: keep her man by her side; keep her game face on; and, if at all possible, keep a Coach bag in her hand. She believed she should always appear happy and vibrant. Her feeling was that people would treat her better if they thought she was happy and beautiful, and had money to blow. Besides, if she could keep up the front, no one would ever suspect the real mess her life was in. Chantell Meyers is the somewhat neurotic first-person main character in Denise Michelle Harris' sensational debut novel Sweet Bye-Bye (Walk Worthy Press/Warner Books, 2004, 257 pp., hardcover, $23.95 US, ISBN-0-446-50008-9). On September 16, 2004, Sweet Bye-Bye will be available nationally, wherever books are sold.
Harris' novel is the story of a spoiled diva's journey as she tries to cope with all the challenges life has to offer. When faced with possibly losing her father to illness, 30-year-old Chantell Meyers receives a reality check from above. She promises God that she will become a better person if He allows her father to live. Soon, her promise would become harder to keep than she had expected. Chantell's life becomes increasingly complicated as she faces an inconceivable series of trials, temptations, revelations and resultant therapy. She ultimately relinquishes her desire to "have it all" and gets everything she's ever really wanted.
"Sweet Bye-Bye is a book of which I am really proud," said Harris, "because it touches on a lot of the hot issues that we face daily in the African American community." She continued, "I hope it will inspire my readers to live better lives through the help and guidance of God."
