Gridborg Host Media Processing Software Now Supports Envox 6

Download this press release as an Adobe PDF document.

Zagreb, Croatia, (PRWEB), September 14, 2004. Today, Uniqall made the third beta version of its flagship Gridborg 1.0 host media processing software available for download and free evaluation. This beta includes support for the latest version of industry leading Envox Communications Development Platform.

'This is probably one of the most important milestones in Gridborg 1.0 development so far. It makes Gridborg viable telephony cards replacement for developers of thousands of applications that are written with Envox toolkit.' said Boris Pavacic, CTO of Uniqall, Inc. 'For the most of them, switching costs are almost non-existent.'

Switching underlying telephony cards with cards from another vendor, or with host media processing based solution is not without costs attached to it. On other hand, the carrot is huge. Long-term savings associated with switching to VoIP & host media processing solution like Gridborg are tremendous. Costs of development, deployment and maintenance as well as those of inventory, sparing, and startup go through the floor once when specialized hardware is finally taken out of the equation.
The lowest switching costs are for developers using rapid application development toolkits such as Envox that do support both old and new platform. By supporting the latest version of industry leading toolkit Uniqall made significant move toward those developers who are best positioned to make quick, painless transition.

All since first telephony card was introduced two decades ago, such cards were handling connection to telephone network and media processing tasks. However, mighty combination of VoIP & Moore's law is threatening to turn entire industry upside down. With VoIP growing at present rates computer telephony applications do not need to be attached directly to circuit switched networks. Actually, if the application needs to be future proof, IP network is the right place to be. On other hand, Moore's law made x86 processors powerful more then enough for the purpose of handling media processing tasks that were previously handled by dedicated digital signal processors embedded within telephony cards.
By solving both network connectivity and media processing in software, Uniqall with Gridborg enables computer telephony application developers to use any 'of the shelf' VoIP media gateway instead of expensive telephony cards. Depending of the size of installation, price difference may even be in tens of thousands of dollars.

Gridborg Server is available for Windows and several Linux distributions, while Gridborg Envox driver like Envox works on Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
