Roof moisture surveys and non destructive infrared testing from Infrared Consulting Services are helping government agencies save millions of dollars in roof maintenance and repair.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (PRWEB) September 16, 2004 -- http://www.irtest.com - Infrared Consulting Services, Inc. (ICS), an infrared testing and roof moisture consulting firm, announced today that their infrared testing services and roof moisture surveys are helping government agencies save millions of dollars in roof maintenance and repairs.

The Department of Energy states that most roofs begin to deteriorate within the first few years due to moisture infiltrating roofing systems.

"Because moisture is typically stored in roofing systems long before leaks appear, it is essential to identify roof moisture early," said Chuck Martin, Infrared Consulting Services President. "Infrared roof testing can identify the exact location of roof moisture damage and save government agencies millions of dollars that would have otherwise been allocated toward unnecessary roof replacements."

Infrared testing services are the most accurate method available today to pinpoint roof leaks. With non destructive infrared testing, government agencies can avoid replacement of the entire roof, and focus only on the portion of the roof that is leaking.

"We have experienced roof leaks in the past, to which board members react with roof replacement recommendations," said Perry L. Hansen, senior property manager, Durand & Associates - Property Management, Inc. "One of our first steps, is to call Infrared Consulting Services, have them examine the roof with infrared scanners and provide definitive reporting and recommendations regarding roof life expectancy, roof repair and replacement options."

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, ninety-five percent of roofing materials removed are dry and are not in need of replacement. Additionally flat roofs are being replaced every 8 - 10 years although under the manufacturer's warranty their material life is covered for 25 - 30 years.

As a result of investing in non destructive roof moisture surveys from Infrared Consulting Services government agencies can now avoid premature roof replacement and instead conduct minor repairs and focus on preventive maintenance.
