Bye-bye garage sales: New book helps readers use eBay to turn trash into cash

The new bestselling book, "eBay Secrets: How to create Internet auction listings that make 30% more money while selling every item you list," is showing readers how to get cash for the things that were collecting dust in their garages. "eBay Secrets", written by author Steven Ellis White, has been the number one best selling e-book on Amazon.com since its release.

(PRWEB) September 20, 2004 -- The days of the garage sale as the best way to get rid of household junk appear to be long gone. Bestselling author Steven Ellis White is showing readers how easy it is to move past garage sales and into the Information Age. His latest book, "eBay Secrets: How to create Internet auction listings that make 30% more money while selling every item you list" flew to the top of the Amazon.com e-books bestseller list in its first month on Amazon, and it has garnered dozens of five-star reviews from readers.

The revised edition of the book was released in July by BooksOnStuff Publishing(www.booksonstuff.com) and became an immediate sensation because the author's system for selling products on eBay has produced consistently solid results, and because it is a strategy that is the exact opposite of conventional wisdom.

Ever since its release, reader success stories have been pouring in to BooksOnStuff's headquarters in Boston, MA. Bryon Krug, BooksOnStuff Publishing's president, explained, "When the stories first started coming in, you almost couldn't believe they were true. Readers were thanking us because they had cleaned out their closets and used Steve's techniques to sell old handbags for more than double what they had paid for them when the handbags were new. Another reader wrote to tell us about how he'd sold some old video games that were collecting dust in his basement, and he made enough money to buy a new plasma HD-TV."

"The idea for this book began a couple of years ago when I sold my Dodge Viper on eBay," says the author. "For weeks, I watched dozens of other sellers trying to auction these fancy sports cars on eBay, and none of them had gotten any interest from bidders. Their auctions would end with no bids and they would try again a few days later. After I figured out what they were doing wrong, I not only sold my Viper on the first try but also received more money for it than the other sellers were asking for theirs."

Fueled by his initial success, White developed a formula to create auctions that generate the best results. After experimenting with hundreds of auctions to refine his techniques, "eBay Secrets" was published.

The big secret, according to White, is to use techniques that maximize the number of bids an auction receives. White calls it his "Bid Multiplier Method".

"Everyone knows the old economic model that says when a product is in short supply, the price tends to go up," says White. "On eBay there is an additional element to the model: the demand for, and scarcity of, a really good auction listing. The Bid Multiplier Method takes advantage of that scarcity and uses it to generate the most bids for your auction, which in turn drives the price up."

If the praise from Amazon.com readers is any indication, eBay Secrets really delivers. It is available for $9.77 on the Internet retailer's web site.
