This release announces the publication of the short story, "Van Gogh's Peasant," by Publish America.

(PRWEB) September 22, 2004 -- Publish America and author Steven M. Ulmen are pleased to announce the publication of "Van Gogh's Peasant" (48 pages, July, 2004) by Publish America.

Van Gogh's nameless, faceless image is entitled simply, "Van Gogh's Peasant." Like a ghostly specter he centers Van Gogh's canvas, locked forever in the endless task of harvesting the fruit of the land. He appears to be a farmer, with his large, rough hands and a back permanently stooped from years of hard labor. The story releases the image from its canvas prison. It gives life to the man, however temporary, and allows him to end his labor. The image could be Everyman, could be whomever the reader imagines him to be.

This story is inspired by Van Gogh's sketch as it appears on the book cover, which is a bonus for the purchaser. The original stetch, "Peasant with Sickle, Seen from the Back" number F1313, is held at the Kroller-Muller Museum in the Netherlands. Our sincere thank you extends to the online Van Gogh Gallery and to the Kroller-Muller Museum, both of whom were instrumental in providing copyright permission for use of the electronic image on the book cover.

"Van Gogh's Peasant" uses the art of words to interpret the art of the sketch as painted by this great Master. An allegory, it personifies the peasant and compares his last year to the four seasons of his life. The reader is introduced to him in the springtime, planting season. While going about his chores, he reflects on his youthful days, the springtime of his life. It proceeds through the summer, autumn, and winter in like fashion. The story is contemplative, leaving much to the imagination, allowing readers to interpret it according to their own life experiences. A good story to read at the end of the day, "Van Gogh's Peasant" leaves the reader with a sense of serenity and peace.

"Van Gogh's Peasant" is currently being reviewed by the online Van Gogh Gallery and by the Kroller-Muller Museum, the Netherlands. Four other reviews, all four star, are published at the Publish America website. The book can be purchased online through www.publishamerica.com, www.barnesandnoble.com, www.amazon.com, and several other online bookstores around the world as listed at www.fetchbook.info. Simply type in the title, "Van Gogh's Peasant," and the book link will come up.

The author hopes the reader enjoys the story and feels it does justice to the sketch as drawn by this great artist. In today's world of violence, war, and terrorism, maybe it's time to stop and smell the roses, and determine what is important in life. "Van Gogh's Peasant" will help you do that. Reviews by the reader at the various websites listed above are encouraged. Any questions or comments about the book are welcome at sulmen2001@yahoo.com, or at the author's website, www.EagleEntertainmentUSA.com. Caution! "Van Gogh's Peasant" may be addicting. You may have the urge to read it more than once. Thank you, and pleasant reading!
