How to Sell Online

A growing band of entrepreneurs and business people are starting to realise that there is a genuine buck to be made from utilising the direct marketing channel that the Internet offers.

(PRWEB) September 24, 2004 -- How to Sell Online

As the technology bubble burst and many online companies went to the wall, selling goods and products online moved to the back of most retailer's growth strategies.

But a growing band of entrepreneurs and business people are starting to realise that there is a genuine buck to be made from utilising the direct marketing channel that the Internet offers. The low overheads that online trading offers plus controllable and traceable sales costs have lead to a surge in online start-ups and low maintenance shops. This has combined to see a huge rise in online sales revenue.

Online growth outstrips traditional performance The Department of Trade and Industries latest figures for online use show that;Over 60% of people use the Internet" September 2004. And a recent survey by one of the major payment clearing processors Visa, reported; The growth in Internet shopping is running about 15 times faster than that of general retail sales. A pattern is emerging in the UK and across Europe: each quarter, year-on-year, online spend is approximately doubling."

The report goes on to point out:
Total UK sales figures for the first quarter of 2004 were more than twice that of the same period in 2003"

Previous Concerns
James Gartner of e-commerce firm ishopnet (http://www.ishopnet.co.uk) believes that many of the security and reliability concerns that consumers had have now been dealt with.

"Users now have a much better experience, mainly brought about by better infrastructure and supporting businesses - the improved reliability and performance of delivery firms being a prime example."

This has produced a much better shopping experience for the customer and trust is being clawed back the online firms as many of them reap the rewards. Low setup and overhead costs (you can now create an online shop for less than the price of a Yellow pages ad) mean that these retailers can quickly and easily pump money back into driving further sales, providing a rapid cash flow cycle and good margin.

How to Sell Your Goods online.
There are many products and companies offering to help you get your products online, but you should be careful to pick the right partner. Essentially what youre looking for is a Shopping Basket or Shopping Cart system.

Look for good after sales care and online support. Also look for a company that can help you with your online marketing as even if you have the best website and product in the world, if no one visits it – youll have no sales. Try and get a company that can guide you through the whole process rather than just sell you the website and software and leave it at that. And most importantly as with all conventional business get a partner you can trust!
