Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 27, 2004 -- President George W. Bush enjoys a 10-point lead among likely Red State voters (Red States were won by Bush in 2000; Blue States by Gore). Kerrry, on the other hand, enjoys a smaller 7-point lead among Blue State voters according to the latest Zogby/OLeary Report poll conducted September 17-19, 2004 of 1,066 likely voters nationwide with a margin of error of +/- 3.1 percentage points.
Fifty-one percent of Red State likely voters and 42% of Blue State likely voters said they would vote for George W. Bush if the election were held today while 41% of Red State voters and 49% of Blue State voters said they would vote for John Kerry for President.
The poll also found bad news for the Kerry Campaign which has begun to hammer the President over the war in Iraq and the administrations war on terror. The poll found considerable support for President Bush in the administrations war on terror.
Bush Leads on Terror Issue in Red and Blue States
A clear majority of Americans would rather have President Bush as their Commander-in-Chief in the war of terror according to results from the latest Zogby/OLeary Report poll conducted September 17-19, 2004 of 1,066 likely voters nationwide with a margin of error of +/- 3.1 percentage points.
By a margin of 52% to 37% likely voters said George W. Bush best shares their values on fighting terrorism. When asked if terrorists were to strike the United States again, as they recently did in Russia, 54% said they would prefer to have George W. Bush in the White House compared to 38% of likely voters who preferred to have John Kerry as president.
Fifty-six percent of Red State voters (those states won by George W. Bush in 2000) and 48% of Blue State voters (those states won by Al Gore in 2000) said Bush better shares their values when asked the question: Which candidate for president do you think best shares your values on fighting terrorism?" Just 33% of Red State and 41% of Blue State voters said Kerry shares their values.
Fifty-eight percent of current members of the military or members of their families, 54% of veterans and 49% of non-military voters said Bush best shares their values on fighting terrorism compared to 34% of current military members or their families, 36% of veterans and 39% of non-military members who said Kerry best shares their values.
Bush also enjoyed a lead in Red and Blue States on the question: If terrorists were to attack the United States as was done recently in Russia, who would you rather have as President of the United States – George W. Bush or John Kerry?" Fifty-nine percent of Red State likely voters and 50% of Blue State voters said theyd rather have Bush in office compared to 35% of Red State likely voters and 42% of Blue State voters whod rather have Kerry in the White House.
Fifty-three percent of current military members, 57% of veterans and 52% of non-military members said they preferred to have George W. Bush in the White House in such a situation compared to 36% of current military members, 36% of veterans and 41% of non-military members who said they would rather have Kerry in the White House.
