The J. Mendel name is long established and world famous for the century old fur line established in Paris, but has become widly sought after for the new fresh creations of Mr. Mohapatra and his team. The label has retail stores in New York, Paris and Aspen and a boutique in Bergdorf Goodman in New York.
Bibhu is in charge of the design and creation of the fashion fur and women's ready to wear line, which includes evening gowns, cocktail dresses,wedding gowns, coats, and suits. From the moment Bibhu joined Mendel, the look and feel of the line changed. The label matured and became the trend setting sophisticated label that is now world famous. Bibhu Mohapatra received his masters degree in fashion design from FIT in New York and also has a masters degree in Economics from Utah State University.

The 32 year old Mr. Mohapatra was born in the Indian state of Orissa.
