Global Maintenance Technologies, Ltd. (GM Tech) new line of Infrared Windows delivers value to clients and now has approval from Underwriters Laboratories (UL).

These newly UL Approved windows provide thermographers with a safe and efficient means of inspecting medium and high voltage electrical equipment. The windows work with all infrared cameras. The performance of these windows has been improved and the cost drastically reduced by innovating a new infrared transmissive material and controlling the entire manufacturing process.

(PRWEB) September 19, 2004 -- GM Tech provides Infrared Windows which are used with a thermal camera to safely inspect medium and high voltage electrical equipment in all types of manufacturing facilities, office buildings, ships, hotels and more. Medium and High Voltage electrical equipment require thermal camera inspection (thermography) to identify faulty components. Faulty components lead to unexpected loss of electricity which inconveniences building users and shuts down factories. Faulty electrical components can also induce an electrical explosion called Arc Flash. Arc Flash is a burst of extremely high temperature gases that poses serious safety risks to anyone nearby. Thermographers have historically opened the covers of the electrical equipment to perform these inspections.

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) identifies this as an unsafe practice in their guideline 70 E. GM Tech now offers UL approved 2", 3" and 4" windows which allow infrared inspection of electrical equipment without opening doors, thereby minimizing exposure to Arc Flash dangers. GM Tech has innovated new materials and manufacturing processes to improve the performance of infrared windows and to significantly reduce their cost, thereby delivering increasing value to their clients.
