50plus Online Magazine Joins AARP in Opposing President Bushs Plan to Privatize Social Security.

50plus Online Magazine (www.50plusMag.com) fully supports AARPs efforts to persuade the White House and Congress that privatizing Social Security is not in the best interests of the 76 million Americans who are 50 and older.

(PRWEB) January 10, 2005 -- Like AARP, 50plus Online Magazine (www.50plusMag.com) is non-partisan. Our intention is to make those 50plus aware of lifes options and to encourage rejection of the cliché image of older people.

We believe privatization of Social Security should NOT be an option. Risk might sound exciting when you are young, but many will suffer the consequences when they get old. The word security" is in the name for a good reason. Social Security should be a no brainer—something we take for granted that will be there for us when we get old. Were after security, not insecurity. No doubt about it, some individuals might be better off, but for most of us, it is not worth the risk.

50plus Online Magazine (www.50plusMag.com) has never been afraid of controversy," said Editor Gary Geyer. We did not agree with AARPs support for the Medicare legislation in 2002 and 2003. However on the issue of putting retirement planning at risk, we support AARP 100% in opposing private accounts that put social Security at risk."

About 50plus Online Magazine:
50plus Online Magazine (also known as 50plusMag.) is an online magazine geared to boomers, young seniors and recent retirees. The focus is on contemporary issues approached from a 50+ perspective.

Recent articles have addressed gay and lesbian seniors, growing old in prison, discrimination in the workplace, dealing with Alzheimer rage, avoiding sibling rivalry at inheritance time, trophy wives, older women dating (and having sex with) younger men, being ignored by advertisers, the trend of older actors and actresses appearing nude in the movies, senior divorce, alcoholic retirees, and a 50plus sex quiz.

Coming up are articles dealing with the death of a grandchild, adopting when you are past 50, and something to watch for in our next edition -- 50plus Online Magazine (www.50plusMag.com) will be redefining our generation.

Meanwhile, we urge all our readers to call their legislators (toll free) at 1-800-307-8525 and tell them you are opposed to legislation that will allow individual to have private accounts that can put Social Security at risk, and ask them to oppose it as well.
