New Book by Bishop McKinney Brings to Light the Issues That Are Destroying Todays African-American Families

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) January 8, 2005 -- Out for release, in honor of Black History Month, Bishop George Dallas McKinney brings to light the modern day slave masters that are destroying todays African-American families, through his book, The New Slave Masters."

In his book, Bishop George McKinney explains the perils and pitfalls as well as the remedies and solutions to free the captives. Inspirational and encouraging, the book challenges us all to fight for our freedom.

In this day, there are new insidious slave masters at work in our society," states Bishop McKinney. These new slave masters work outside civilized law and labor to ensnare black families – and families of all races. More threatening than before, these new slave masters not only enslave the physical being but imprison the mind and spirit as well."

A descendent of slaves himself, Bishop McKinney has championed civil rights, human rights and moral rights for nearly half a century. He has fought racism, poverty, gangs, drugs and violence. This book is not only an accumulation of the life experiences he has encountered working on the front lines of the inner city, but it is also filled with wisdom and practical application to harness adversity for change and growth. Because of his inspiration, hundreds of emotionally devastated individuals are now contributing members of society, living stable lives resulting from counseling and life coaching through his counseling centers and outreach programs. Students, who otherwise might have ended up in prison, went on to become doctors, attorneys, teachers and business leaders.

Bishop George Dallas McKinney is on the General Board of the Church of God in Christ and bishop of the Southern California 2nd Jurisdiction Church of God in Christ and senior pastor of St. Stephens Cathedral in San Diego. The bishop holds numerous academic degrees in sociology and a Ph.D. in theology. He was recently nominated for Chaplin of the U.S. Senate and is an advisor for President Bush.

For his efforts to create racial unity, the National Association of Evangelicals named him, The Racial Reconciliation Man of the Year." In recognition for his contributions to the community, San Diego created a Bishop McKinney Day." He is the author of nine books including a best seller, Cross the Line: Reclaiming the inner City for God." Bishop McKinney can be seen weekly on the Word Network, preaching the message of truth and hope and providing practical solutions to problems facing us everyday.

The New Slave Masters," published by Cook Communications, will be available at fine bookstores everywhere. Bishop George McKinney is scheduled for a national book signing tour and available for interviews. Additional information about Bishop McKinney can be found at www.ststephenscogic.org.
