DRUM! Magazine Increases Frequency to Monthly

DRUM! Magazine is the leading publication for today's youngest drummers and hand percussionists (30% of the readers are under 20 years of age.) With this announcement it moves from 8 x per year frequency to monthly based on strong growth in advertising sales.

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) January 11, 2005 -- DRUM! Magazine announced January,11 2004 that effective immediately, it was moving to a monthly publishing schedule from its current 8x per year frequency. "This move is actually long overdue," said Andy Doerschuk, DRUM! Editorin-chief. [Publisher] Phil Hood and I have been hearing from advertisers that they would like to see increased frequency. Given our current strength on the newsstands we felt it was a good time to do this.

Torry Castellano of the Donnas is the cover of the NAMM issue of DRUM! kicking off the new monthly schedule. That issue also features an expose of fake "vintage" drums, a special article on 50 Years of Studio Drummers and a John Bonham retrospective with lessons from six Led Zeppelin classics. Paiste Cymbals, Remo Emperor Heads, Meinl congas and a Roland electronic drum kit are among the gear tests in that issue.    DRUM! also has added two new members to the editorial team. Billy Ramirez signs on as assistant editor covering Rock and Latin genres and new products. Rick Eberly, a respected illustrator whose work has appeared in DRUM!, Keyboard and many music magazines, joins the team as a graphic assistant to art director Lalaine Gagni.

"This move reflects strength in our overall operation, particularly the magazine," says publisher Phil Hood. "We are seeing excellent growth in our online site, and our international distribution too. We'll also be redesigning parts of the magazine later in the year and increasing the size of certain editorial sections." DRUM! Magazine was started as a free tabloid in 1991 and originally was available only in California. Today it sells on newsstands in more than 40 countries. The cover price is $4.95. DRUM! is published in San Jose, California.
