Seattle, WA (PRWEB) January 11, 2005 -- As one of the nation's leaders in health and prevention education, Comprehensive Health Education Foundation (C.H.E.F.®), will participate in the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA®) National Leadership Forum XV, to be held today through January 13 in Washington, D.C.

For the second consecutive year, C.H.E.F. will conduct its popular workshop entitled You're Asking Me to Be an Entrepreneur? Business Planning for Non-Profits", led by its team of presenters, Larry Clark, President and Chief Executive Officer, Debra Keene Bergeron, Vice President, and Michael Oxman, Communications Director.

According to Larry Clark, Our business planning workshop has met with a great deal of success among CADCA Forum attendees because there is a real need today for non-profit organizations and coalitions to understand and adopt business planning and income generation models. With external funding sources being cut from virtually every direction, non-profits can no longer rely exclusively on outside sources for their financial livelihood. As a result, income generation is fast becoming a way to ensure the long-term survival and sustainability of these organizations." Clark and his team are uniquely qualified to address the topic of business planning for CADCA's attendees because their own organization, C.H.E.F., is not only focused on the health and well-being of people of all ages, but has also had an income-generating business model in place for over 25 years.

CADCA's National Leadership Forum is the nations largest training conference for community coalition activists and substance abuse professionals, with more than 3,000 prevention and treatment specialists attending from all over the country. Featuring dozens of distinguished speakers and panelists, including leaders in prevention, government, medicine, business, education, and academia, the Forum will focus attention on what can be done to reduce drug and alcohol abuse in the United States. The conference will feature more than 80 workshops on a variety of subjects, including the latest research in substance abuse prevention and treatment fields, plus new strategies, programs and best practices aimed at reducing drug and alcohol use. Other workshop topics will include Coalition Building and Resources, Emerging Drug Trends, Strategic Planning, and Building Partnerships-Sector Involvement.

Founded in 1974 and celebrating its 30th Anniversary year, Seattle-based Comprehensive Health Education Foundation (C.H.E.F.) is dedicated to promoting health and quality of life through education, addressing such important topics as substance abuse, violence, HIV / AIDS, smoking, obesity, and other unhealthy behaviors. As a nationally-known non-profit organization, C.H.E.F. develops numerous programs which have been proven effective by the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP), and is also the developer of the Heres Looking at You® curriculum, the most widely used K-12 drug prevention curriculum in the country, the Youth Matters® curriculum, and the Social Beginnings® early childhood program.
