Los Angeles Mayoral Candidate, Bill Wyatt, Launches a Get-Paid-To-Play Idea Contest

Bill Wyatt, a candidate for mayor in Los Angeles, has just launched a weekly idea contest called, "Get-Paid-To-Play". This creative approach to opening the door to new ideas will provide a fifty-dollar prize each week for the best idea to help make Los Angeles a better place to live.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 19, 2005 -- Bill Wyatt, a candidate for Los Angeles Mayor, has just launched a feature on his website that will pay the public in a contest format for ideas that will make the city better. The Bill Wyatt for Mayor campaign website is located at: www.BillyWyatt.com and the new Get-Paid-To-Play contest is located at: http://billywyatt.com/forum/

Through the internet Bill Wyatt hopes to promote individuals who may have great ideas, but do not have the time or ability to get those ideas into the bureaucratic process. By paying for the ideas Bill Wyatt hopes to parody the Pay-To-Play issue that has absorbed the downtown LA political scene and encourage regular citizens to forward ideas that will broaden the political debate. "I believe in the power of the individual citizen to have solutions to problems that political consultants and strategist may overlook", states Bill.

Each week the ideas that are submitted will be voted on in a democratic fashion and the best idea in the group will be chosen the winner and added to the Bill Wyatt for Mayor platform. The contest is open to anyone who wishes to participate and who has a good idea or can identify a specific problem with a reasonable solution that has been overlooked through the years. Bill has also pledged to keep the contest running while he is the mayor and pay for the cost of the contest from his own salary.

Other ideas that stand out from the Bill Wyatt for Mayor campaign is that he is not accepting contributions from any source. Bill Wyatt has an animated spokesperson on his website that delivers an "almost-live" presentation and press statements as news breaks that relate to his campaign. The website has a translation button provided by Alta Vista that translates the website into 8 languages besides English, including Spanish, Korean, and Chinese. The online forum allows for an open discussion of every issue that the Bill Wyatt campaign is addressing in order to increase public debate within his own campaign. "Good ideas come from an open debate on each and every issue", says Bill. "If you speak your mind the candidates will follow", is a tag that Bill places with every post on the bulletin board.

Details & Background: Bill Wyatt is a 44 year old candidate in the non-partisan municipal election that will be held on March 8, 2005 for mayor. He has participated in other elections for public office including the Los Angeles Secession campaign in 2002, the Gubernatorial Recall campaign of 2003 and the Republican primary election in 2004 which Bill ran in five state primaries and got 10% of the vote in Oklahoma. Currently Bill is pushing an agenda that is focused on revisiting the secession issue. Free yard signs and bumper stickers are available by request through the website.
