Preeminent workplace violence expert, W. Barry Nixon, SPHR, Executive Director, National Institute for the Prevention of Workplace Violence, Inc., has just been appointed as President of the American Association of Anger Management Providers; an organization representing professional anger management providers nationwide.

Lake Forest, CA (PRWEB) January 24, 2005 -- Preeminent workplace violence expert, W. Barry Nixon, SPHR, Executive Director, National Institute for the Prevention of Workplace Violence, Inc., has just been appointed as President of the American Association of Anger Management Providers; an organization representing professional anger management providers nationwide.

Anger may be a workplace issue whose time has come. Besides the obvious tragic events of September 11th, one of the residual issues has been peoples anger; road rage is frequently in the headlines, workplace violence continues to ravage our workplaces, bullying confronts our kids in school and the #1 circumstance leading to homicide continues to be arguments between individuals that know each other. Anger is real and all around us. It is my intention to establish AAAMP as the premier organization effectively reversing this negative trend," Nixon stated.

We aim to educate employees, supervisors, students, abuse victims, batterers, etc., in appropriate ways to channel/handle their anger. AAAMP is at the forefront of a movement that will help make our hectic and fast paced lives a little less stressful, reduce tensions and ultimately save lives," added Nixon.

The association plans to advocate for consistent certification and continuing education training to sustain the highest level of quality service to clients. According to Nixon, as president he will focus on three key areas: 1) to develop a strategic plan that establishes a mission, focus and direction for the organization; 2) to increase membership and 3) to increase awareness about the organization among anger management facilitators, the public and business community.

Mr. Nixon was selected as president due to his expertise as head of one of the top workplace violence prevention and training firms in the country.

The National Institute for the Prevention of Workplace Violence believes that anger is often the early expression of an employee in need of help or the result of organizational practices that need to be re-examined and if left intact, they may be the catalyst for violence to occur.

Consequently, the Institute believes that anger management providers may actually be the front-end solution to early problem identification and resolution.

Mr. Nixon is well known and in high demand as a workplace Violence expert; he was recently invited to present as an expert at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Convention and in 2004 spoke at the ASIS International, Employment Managers Association and OSHAs Volunteer Protection Program Participants Association annual conventions.

Yesterday, organizations that ignored quality didnt survive. For this century, a major competitive advantage may come from harnessing the growing rage and conflict in the workplace; recognizing these as cracks in the system and the emergence of a new management paradigm."

"AAAMP is at the forefront of this emerging workplace issue that has stewed in the public arena for too long. We intend to provide the leadership needed to help the business community prepare to address the debilitating effects it can have on productivity and success," Nixon stated.
